My husband was prescribed Methotrexate 2.5 MG Tablets for his Ruematoid Arthritis. He has taken 4 tablets once a week for seven weeks. What are the dangers of stopping the dosage? Can he stop all at once, or wean himself off of them gradually?

I am off Methotrexate for surgery... Not sure the feelings I'm going through are norma. Increase joint pain, unable to sleep.
I am going to have hemorrhoid surgery soon and must stop the methotrexate and prednisone for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after. 8 methotrexate per week and 5 mg. prednisone per day. Can I stop the methotrexate abruptly? I know about the prednisone.
