Every time I use metronidazole it's like clock work I get a yeast infection. I've been a frequent flyer of uti, BV and yeast infection. Every time I go see my doc I explain that I tent to get a yeast infection right after and majority of docs don't have any problem prescribing diflucan. Kill two birds with one stone. I would say call your doc tell him/her you think it's a yeast infection and they should be able to escript it. If it doesn't help the problem go back to doc. Ice delt with these issues for years.....The best thing I have used to keep me BV free is primadophilus reuteri pearls. I've done a lot of research and tried almost everything under the sun. These really helped me have a normal pH. They also have vag suppositories OTC to help balance your pH. Those work pretty good too. Whoever reads this.....Your not alone and it's very common for women to have these issues. Good luck to all hope that helps.
Normal. I have recurring bv. In perimenopause. Your body discharges fluid. With Infection or normally. The gel sticks as much as it needs to in order to treat your issue. Not to worry. It happens during treatment. Discharge gets trapped in the gel. Relax. This is a yey! And before your period begins to flow if you use it at that time, you WILL see brown/red clumps and a fer when it starts to heavily flow. But pregnant w red clumps-- maybe see do tor.
Thank u to all of u for ur own concerns cause I'm just starting this medicine and u all were very concerned like I am now.... reading everyones post I do feel more clamor , if that's a word..Thanks again
Everytime I use this medicine I have vaginal bleeding, there's no pain but it's just weird. What is going on?
Hello i need help, I just went to the gyno and got treated for BV! On nov 5th She prescribed me the metro gel. I took it for 5days. Everything seemed to be fine. I had sex a few times with my BF n used condom all the time. I then noticed a white creamy/watery discharge I thought it was natural, had no smell, few days after I started itching like crazy and the discharge started looking like cottage cheese. I figured ok a yeast now but how comes #Sigh! I just decided to use the metro inserts to see if it could help it but the clumps got larger and more discharge. Please tell me what to do! Thanks In advance
Flagyl and Metro are the same medication. The climdamycin is a good alternative but sometimes isn't as effective.
I been using the same medication and after the first day of using it i noticed when i wiped it had a bloody clot alomst look to it...some dark blood, some blood looked fresh and my second day it was more. Im not on my period nor do i have pain or cramps..please help
The gel burned me inside. It still burns in side
Hoe long does it last
No more than 8 days to clear the residual medication. Yes it is normal to have white clumps. Occasionally it will be one extremely large mass which may take longer to pass or small flecks over several day. Call your doctor if you have an increase in irritation that persists several days after completion of treatment. Not to be confused with the normal potential side effects of this medication the most common of which are discharge, dryness, irritation, & abdominal cramping. If you experience fever, foul smelling green/yellow discharge, or a lasting increase in irritation days After completion contact your doctor. Small amounts of blood occasionally may be seen in discharge during treatment this can be normal, but if you are concerned always contact your doctor.
Also obstain from sex during course of treatment and possibly for some time after if advised by your doctor. Avoid sugary starchy foods as they may contribute to a secondary infection. If you have a history of reoccurring yeast infections you may benefit from a high dose daily oral probiotic with diverse strains. Please make sure they are species included in the natural human flora and not soilbased organisms as they can prove pathogenic particularly after a course of antibiotics. Also if sexually active it is possible your partner is asymptomatically infected. Post treatment sexually activity with your partner could reinfect you with BV. Talk to your doctor about options or have your partner see their doctor
.....you hopefully inserted the gel into your vagina and not urethra sooo... ?
It give you a yest infection idk why the doctors give us a med to treat one infection and then it give us another ugh
I know this was over a year ago but I have the exact same experience as you. I thought it was a UTI and started cranberry juice but I started getting irritation around my vaginal opening. The doctor assumed it was BV and got me on metronidazole vaginal gel. I started taking it and the first day it felt better, but then the next night I felt really dry down there and it was hard to get the applicator in. This morning I hard white granule discharge! I am freaking out because that is NOT how a normal yeast infection is for me. This is something different and I need to know if it is normal for this medicine or not. My doctor has yet to get back to me so therefore I am on here. Dry, rough, irritated and white granule like discharge. HELP!
I'm getting the same thing: balls along with a teeny bit of blood in a thick, clear, mucousal discharge. What's your take on that?
