My sister was diagnosed with mild anemia yesterday, but she has no symptoms. She felt weak for couple of days and little pale, but that’s it. Mom insisted to do blood work…and mild anemia was diagnosed. How serious is mild anemia?

Sometimes anemia is detected before a person notices symptoms, when routine blood tests are performed, like with your sister. But Mild anemia often causes fatigue, weakness, and paleness and more severe anemia may produce faintness, dizziness, increased thirst, sweating, a weak and rapid pulse, and rapid breathing. Some people with mild anemia, particularly when it develops slowly, have no symptoms at all. .
