I was prescribed Minocycline 5 days ago. I take 1 pill twice a day..I think my acne may in fact be getting better!! I am also on Clindamycin Phosphate Topical Solution USP 1% Pledgets, they also kill acne causing bacteria, so hopefully the two will work together so the acne will be all gone!! I guess it's just a matter of waiting, sigh. Hahahaha, although I must say I got a little worried reading the side effects. Does everyone suffer from them?? And also, if I stopped taking Minocycline, would the acne come back??
I've been taking Minocycline 3days now and i see that my pimples are getting smaller, so i think i really might work !
just for the record here I have had total recovery using pure honey on my face like a face mask quick and fast and cheap then I got a spray bottle and put 50/50 water and ethynol which can be substituted for more readily available vodka. It is true try it and it has no nasty side effects but remember spray don't drink ;-) you can add a slice of lemon for smell if you want
So how does that work? Do you just use straight honey & then use the 50/50 mix as a toner? Please explain in more detail.

I'm really sorry to hear about your story. Nowadays, Minocycline is not prescribed for women because they develop side effects way more often than men.

My plastic surgeon/derm. put me on Clenziderm and Tetrinoin and the 50mg of Monicycline today just took the first pill. I hope that the acne finally goes away!!!
I have been on Minocycline for three days now with the combination of Tetrinion .1% , I am already seeing results. The redness in the nodules is begining to disappear and the over all size of my acne is begining to shrink as well. The only thing I don't like is that you have to take the meds on an empty stomach and it makes me nausiated and dizzy. These are acute symptoms and my derm. told me that most people suffer from them during their treatment. Overall I would def. say YES Minocycline is totally worth it if you are a guy. It is begining to make a huge diff. and that says alot because I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING. Dr. Perry you are a miracle worker!!! :-D
I started taking minocycline 3 days ago, i take it too times a day. I feel like some parts on my face were i barely had any acne is clearing, but then on some parts of my face (chin, nose) where i had the most acne it is getting worse. It could also just be me, i might be paranoid. But is minocycline supposed to make it worse before it gets better?? because ive heard that happens with a lot of things and it just takes time. so please let me know and im excited to see if this helps!

yah same here mine is getting worse i only started about 6 days ago and i've been getting big swelled up pimples all over both cheeks and my chin area it looks completely horrible worst than ever . i been using duac at the night and soem times duac and clean and clear acne spot treatment it just seems worse and worse . idk if i should continue or if its just getting all the nasty things out my face then going to give me fresh new skin
hi there all been reading all your comments, I have had ance all my life if i had of known things about different drug to help keep ance away i would of had a happy 15yr old life most of the time it was so bad i would stay at home , have days of work so no one would see it.when i got married had kids it would get me depressed .I was in hospital having a operation and thre dr said try this new drug spirolatactone 100mg you cant be having any kids while taking it it will take 3mths to work my adult acne was cause threw polycystic so women might wont to check that out as it could be the cause of your acne. I have been on this since i was 22 years old i am now 45 and i never worry about one single spot i have no scars .Then my now teenage boys suffer from acne i didnt wont them to go thru what i did so i took them to the drs they like to try them on certain drug first eg minocycline antibotics then my son kept on getting it so i went to a speacilist he put him on 20mg oratane ( ISOTRETINOIN CAPSULES HE TOOK FOUR DAILY ONCE A DAY) It makes the acne worse before it gets better so they may all so use antibotics for the flear ups he stayed on isotretinoin four 7 mths and now he finshed his course he nver got it back but you have to use face moisturer and lip balm as it drys you hair skin and lip out real bad ( it treats that oil glad that courses tenages adults to get acne. i swear by the drug its important to get on to acne fast as you all know it can scar leaving pit marks for the rest of your life. no my other son hit teenager we have tryed the minocline drug first then if no good he to will go to the skin specialist and try isotretinoin stick to it even if it is making you skin worse because he will also pescibe antibotics to take with it as well the long term is never a spot. every ones different i couldnt take that drug isotretinoin because i have very dry skin so mine acne isnt a oil problem its a condition cause thry polycistic so its important to treat every one sperate
Be careful if you are on birth control while taking this. I have an amazing 5th old boy from taking this antibiotic.. It canceled out my BC...
At 42 yrs old,& never having much problems with my skin,I developed TERRIBLE Adult onset acne. My face was a mess,dry,swollen,red,chapped,cystic acne that was leaving Holes on my face,my lips were peeling and my face would not produce oil,or even sweat. I have been on Minocycline for 2 months,and the results are AMAZING,not only do I not have acne,my face is soft,clear,smooth as silk,my pores are barely visible. I can go out without any make up,something I usually did not do before due to uneven skin tone. I feel Wonderful,and would recommend Minocycline to ANYONE! I also Never had Any side effects,except for noticing that my skin regenerates more quickly over my entire body!
I recently got some midocylene pills and have been using them for about 3 days now along with a Benzoyle Peroxide 5% Wash. I don't have to many questions other than if I still use regular soap to clean my face, or if other tropical acne wash is ok.
I was diagnosed with drug induced lupus from this medication! I had horrible crippling joint pain. I didn't know I had an allergy to tetracyclines before starting this medication. Its rare but possible.
