I have had the Mirena for a little over two years now. My boyfriend complained that it hurt him. I thought it was supposed to be soft...I decided to try and see what it felt like...I was able to finally feel it after squatting low enough so I could reach far enough. It feels like a little wire...not soft at all. I would not like it if I were a man either. Trying to figure out a solution...I enjoy the intercourse...but it is hard to enjoy when my boyfriend isn't enjoying it so much. Thought of actually checking out something like a diaphragm (I know...so old school) or something so he doesn't get poked. I don't want the string cut to short to make removal difficult. Any suggestions?

OMG! I have experienced the same. I had my Mirena inserted 2 months ago. The sex is just not the same. It's painful and as soon as I am about to reach an orgasim, the pain strikes. I am so sadden and frustrated.

I've had the mirena for going on 10 years now. I had it changed 1 time since the 1st time it was put in & my boyfriend told me recently that he can't keep it up because he's getting poked & it's causing him so much pain. Now during the 10 years ice had this type of birth control this is not the 1st time I've been told that it feels like being poked with needles & the erection completely goes away. My doctor has already trimmed the strings & it's still in the correct place. I told my boyfriend he's not feeling the mirena it's the strings he's feeling. Neither of us want another kid, he has 5 & I have 1, & I'm not wanting to get rid of the mirena. So does anyone have any advice? I don't wanna quit having sex but it's getting to that point & we've only been dating 8 months.
