My baby boy just turned 12 months and was not fully weaned. I found that it took about 41 days until I finally got my period. Took like 4 pregnancy tests because my previous cycle was only 28 days and I was worried. So apparently breastfeeding can just lead to crazy period schedules.

hey guys. i give birth to my first son on july 8 then had my period september 24. I counted 28 days since my first period until now. I am 4 days late and strictly breastfeeding! but we use pacifier to let him sleep when he finished drinking. Uhm, i had a severe stomach pain but no Pg symptoms. But still scared because my son is still 3 months old and i dont want to have another this early! We used pull out method perfectly too.. But how come i missed my period? 4 days delay.. But i have a vaginal discharge, like plain white and kinda brown. Oh god, i dont know what to do. Am i pregnant? I didnt use prgnancy test yet.

I was in the same situation as you everyone else. I was nursing my son and had a period and even asked a nurse about it and she said my hormones were just trying to readjust. Well 28 days later I thought my period would come any day. I took a test after being a week late just in case. It came back negative. Still no period! I took another test a week later and guess what... a faint little line on the pregnancy test. I immediately went to the store and bought another test and once again another faint line. So needless to say, I have a doctor's appointment next week. According to my last period, I am 7 weeks pregnant.

It's always good to hear someone else experiencing a bit of the same thing....
I've nursing my now 18mo old. I got my period back when he was 11mo and had 3-4 regular cycles before it disappeared again in November. It's been 13 weeks now since my last period. I had a negative preg. test when I was 8 weeks late and another around 10 weeks late. I also saw the GYN then and she said my uterus was at it's pre-pregnancy size but no ultrasound was done. It's making me crazy-- I really want my period back! I've tried to cut back on breastfeeding sessions with my son but he's still nursing 3-5x/day.
What happened with the rest of you?

Thankful to have found this site. 13.5 month old, was only nursing once a day but he got sick and am back to full time nursing when I am home (I went back to work at 6 months), so supply of milk has gone back to being full. Really bad cramps and back pain. I thought I may have had food poisoning or ate something that just isn't agreeing with my stomach. Everything I have read and my family (all in the health profession) has said the same thing as everyone on this post - that nursing affects menstral cycle. I have 2 boys and am not interested in having another child so hoping that my "friend" comes very soon. I'm 2 weeks late and will give it another week before I hit the doctor for a blood test. I don't think I can trust a pregnancy test given hormone levels being so off.

Very interesting to hear that this is common,
i got my af back for the first time since childbirth on jan. 4 and it was a textbook period, just like old times. My daughter was 17 months and still breastfeeding a couple times a day. It's now feb. 20 and I have had nothing but cramping for two weeks a couple weeks ago, and a whole lot of discharge that has changed over three weeks...creamy to clear to really watery now. I've taken many HPTs all negative. According pregnancy cycles which were 31 days I am two weeks late at this point.
Sounds like this is typical, but what I'm wondering is do I still have a go at ovulating this month? I get that I must have not ovulated in January if I didn't get a period following it. But does that mean I just start a new cycle or is it dragged on and on? Anyone ovulate twice in two months after only one period?
I don't buy it that I'm just not fertile again, the ovulation symptoms in December were way too obvious and my hormones have been through the roof since getting a period, something has to be going on in there!

Thought I would reply since many did not follow up on their initial repost. I am gratefully not pregnant. I saw my doctor and they ran a urine test. It was too coincidental that I have the stomach flu at the same time. I have still not received my period and my doctor did confirm that it is common that I may not get it back for another few weeks or even months. The cramping I felt she said could be due to either the flu or my body readjusting (since I am nursing more frequently than I was previously).

Hello Everyone. I'm in the same boat. My husband and i have unprotected sex, i'm two days late, and negative result(s). I can't tell if i'm about to start my period or i'm having early pregnancy symptoms. But my symptoms are lower back pain (when i'm starting my period i'm just aching ALL OVER and def under my belly button) but it's all in my back. I notice the other day i was feeling queasy, cramping bad but no flow. It just feels different can anyone give me feedback?
