wow I can't believe how many other people are suffering from this same problem!! I too have had morning sickness type problems for almost 6 years now. Im a 28 year old female and am 5'6 and weigh only 110lbs and too have a very fast metabolism. It started when I was about 22 and has progressively gotten worse over the years:( I have also seen numerous doctors and had a colonoscopy and barium swallon xray done only to be told that it was IBS. Of course anyone who experiences this problem on a regular basis will develop some form of anxiety over not every being comfortable with spontaneous travel or going anywhere where there is not going to be a decent bathroom to use! I have unfortunately developed an anxiety over going out in public unless I have had my now regular 2-4 BM's before leaving the house every day. I have to literally plan my day according to where there will be toilets and what kind of food I will be able to eat!! I did try to avoid all dairy/milk products and beef for 1 year and I did feel better, but was not totally pain free. I have tried to add and eliminate so many different things in my diet and I have determined in my case that milk based food, undercooked beef, anything spicy or heavily seasoned, and too much grease will send me into the "problem" case the next day. I also have developed bladder and urinary tract infections on a regular basis in the last 7 years. I thought the stomach troubles were related to the enourmous amounts of antibiotics I was taking on a fairly regular basis, and through trial and error have learned that caffeine and alcohol in any form will cause almost an instant UTI. So I have been caffeine and alcohol free for quite some time now. Has anyone else out there had issues with UTI/bladder infections associated with the morning sickness issue? I too am very confused as to why the "side effects" dont hit till the next a.m and why we feel so horrible if woken up before our body is ready to. I thought I was going crazy about this and thouhgt that it may really just be all in my head!! Its a good feeling to know that it is something that other people are going through. Although I am so sorry that you are!! I plan to get in with a gastro doc here in the next month and will let you all know of any insight or revelations i get. I have found that the only thing that seems to work anymore these days is some meditation on another subject while I am in pain. For me personally, I ask God to help me get through it and it seems to calm me down before I go into panic mode wondering how long it will last!  If I focus on something else it takes it down a notch. Good luck to all of you in your search for a cure!

Im a male 22 145lb 5'9 and Ive had the same problem but mine only last for the first 30 minutes or so. I take methadone and to make the methadone last longer I typically take a tagamet (antacid) every morning. When I read the box it said not to take for more than 2 weeks but the nurses at the clinic said that it won't affect me in a negative way. Needless to say I think I'm going to stop taking them. I think they might be causing my acid levels in my stomache to go down during the day time and through the next night, then in the morning (when I havent had any in about 24hrs) my acid levels might have raised too much over night and makes me nauseated and "burpy" in the morning time. Any ideas? or has anyone else had this issue with tagamet?

I have not had to take any anti acid medicines for my stomach troubles, although I have been told by the gastro that taking too much of them will cause exactly what you are experiencing. The antacid neautralizes the natural digestive acids in the stomach to temporarily calm the upset but the body still needs these acids to continue to break down your food, so once the antacid has worn off, your stomach produces enough to break down the food still left in the stomach. This generally can cause the burpy feeling your having due to the gases given off by the food being digested. I have to take Gas-X on a pretty regular basis to help with bloating and burps. What does the methadone do for you that you need to take it with tagament? I have started taking a vegetarian digestive enzyme since my last post on this site and it has worked wonders for my system. The vegetarian part means that it has natural plant enzymes, not that I am vegetarian.  I wasn't producing enough of the natural digestive enzymes that help break down your food and it was causing the upset stomachs. So this pill adds the enzymes to the process and I seriously cant believe the difference in how I feel! My life is totally different now and I rarely have to wait to leave the house in the mornings anymore. It is a natural supplement that I bought at a "Whole Foods" store per the suggestion of the clerk working there and it has done more for me than any test or prescription that any doc has given me thus far!  And it only cost me $13 for a months worth of pills! Hope you figure out the best option for you tho, everybody is different:)

You actually may not have enough stomach acid... talk to your doctor or look up betaine hcl. It helps your stomach produce adequate levels of hydrochloric acid. It could also be the reason why most of you are underweight... malabsorption of nutrients due to not enough stomach acid. Also, try to stay away from grains and follow the link to read this series of articles... It may help.

wow I am so glad I found this thread.  I am a 20 year old male 5'10" 130 lbs. that has suffered from "morning sickness" since I was 15 years old.  Just like the rest of you I wake up to pain, nausea, discomfort, irritability, and inability to eat.  I have been so puzzled, and I am scheduled to get my Gallbladder taken out THIS MONDAY because they think I have Chronic Gallbladder Disease and I need it taken out, even though no gall stones have been detected.  Its been such a hard road.  Its hard to go to college and work when you feel this way and I feel all of your pain.  For the longest time I thought it was the drugs I took, (I am a recovering addict of opiate pain killers think what you want its been a long road) so I thought that when I stopped them it will go away...nope.  So the only thing that helps in the morning is throwing up and Cannabis.  After throwing up I feel fine and can eat and go about my day and other days I just am graced with a normal morning.  I want a normal life so bad, its holding me back from alot of things that I want to do.  Another thought was an ulcer, due to stress, wasnt the case, but stress for me is VERY VERY high so I dont rule out that it contributes but isnt the whole picture.

I also have had depression most of my life and with this condition it has been so much harder to fight tthe depression because when your body doesn't feel good your mind doesnt feel good so I am going to keep battling until I wake up normal! Hopefully my surgery will be the answer I will let you all know.  I am also getting my green card for cannabis (Tucson Arizona resident) because of this issue, I am a pot head and love pot but now I find that I am legitamitely using it to soothe my stomach discomforts as well as helping me get some f*****g food in my system!!!

I'm a 21 year old female, about 150. I have had severe stomach pain for the last three years. I've done food journals, pain journals, medication, and had an endoscopy where I HAD to be given pain medication because they saw that my stomach pain was SO severe. I have been to the hospital, the doctors, whatever. I've been tested for pregnancy, HIV, EVERYTHING. They've checked my blood and everything they could inside of my body. I'm completely healthy and now my doctors don't believe anything I say and even note it when I see them. I take Prilosec every afternoon and a Zegrid every morning. It's so bad I have to find medication to stop it because no one will give me anything. My endoscopy showed that I did have signs of acid reflux. My endoscopy was around December 2011. I've been taking my meds and nothing has happened. If anything It's WORSE than ever. I honestly WISH there was a simple answer for all this pain.

I've had these problems for years also. I've had stomach pains, diarrhea, constipation, nausea and anxiety attacks. I've tried everything and had alot of test ran. Dr's have had me on more meds than i can remember. All the test I had done showed nothing. The last thing I was told was that I had a nervous stomach and was given meds for that. I stopped taking all the meds. I only take a vitamin when I remember to take one. I very rarely have any of these problems anymore. I think my main problems were STRESS, lack of sleep and excercise. I started getting outside more, eating healthier (fruit, vegetables, chicken and fish) I cut out all soft drinks and mostly drank nothing but water. Stress and lack of sleep will cause tons of problems. Also, Marijuana is not for everyone. It makes me paranoid and stresses me out worse. Hope this helps someone

I have had these same problems since I was 10 I am now 33, I have found that dairy has caused the damage to me. Not only am I intollerant but allergic. I have found that most of my symptoms are elivated if I don't eat ANY dairy. But even butter on toast will start the nausea. I still wake up with bad stomache aches but not as often and less sever, but when I slip and ingest any sort of dairy the pain is worse.

I also find herbal remedies help me get over it faster and gives me the desired effect for hunger that I need.

Has anyone ever thought to look into parasites to be the culprit? to me it makes sence. My girlfriend has the same symptoms in uncontrollable vomiting in the morning like her upper stomach is getting ripped out near her sternum.drinking alchlohol makes it worse spicy foods are a hell no. She is negative on celiac disease and IBS and just about everything else for the last three years. she has minor acid reflux yet that wouldn't create the incredible pain I see here go through. So through my research I think it to be pin worm or hook worm. Oh she feels tired throughout the day because she is fighting her tummy constantly hurting. She says it seems to get worse in the summer months for some reason. Parasites have a life cycle they feed on nutrients on the body which is received by food. Makes scence to me the parasites are over active in warm temps and lack of nutrients to feed on. symptoms of parasites include nausea, diareah, stomach pain headache, , tiredness etc anyway the way to tell is having a good lab inspect more than one stool that is where microscopic eggs pass through and sometimes the wormes. She is going to a disease specialist I will repost if we find any thing out good luck to all and risiliance to all.

I concur with your symptoms. these are my symptoms too. I'm 6'3 and 140 lbs which is a very close bmi to yours. I've done extensive stomach test for mine (endoscopy/colonoscopy, barium, motility scan, a lot of blood test, thyroid test, x-ray, MRI...) The only thing I've found to help is DGL Ultra german chocolate licorice (aloe vera juice seems to help but it's too stimulating for our weight). PPI seem to help some, but I think the reflux might be just a symptom of all this. If you want you can try mirtazapine AKA remron. I use to take 7.5 mg. You wake up sleepy (especially the first 3 days) but my stomach was soooo freakin normal for the first 2 weeks on it (after that it doesn't really help me) but if you need a bandaid and you have trouble sleeping and anxiety then this will quell that and the nausea it also WILL MAKE YOU RAPIDLY GAIN WEIGHT (which is awesome). I'd suggest only short term use of this. tell me if you find out anything that helps or any answers, please reply

My sister was recently diagnosed with Hpylori bacterium in her intestines. It has all of the same symtoms as most here on this thread experience and she went for 2 years undiagnosed. It is easily missed on most tests and she finally was diagnosed with an extensieve blood lab screening. It is a parasite that eats tiny holes in your stomach and intestinal wall and causes severe pain along with all the classic symtoms expressed here. The parasite is often missed because it bores itself into the stomach and intestinal wall so that it is not flushed out in vomit or stool. She was told everything under the sun: maybe and ulcer, IBS, celiacs, anxiety, stress.. you name it.. the doctors put her on meds for all of those. She was even put on anti-anxiety meds cause one doctor also told her she had a nervous stomach! She lost her pregnancy due to the Hpylori going undiagnosed:( It was after all of that that her doctor did some heavy blood work to see what they were missing. She also smoked pot regularly to subdue the pains..not while pregnant tho. The treatment is a serious round of anti-biotics which take almost a month to complete, but she has been Hpylori free for several months and is doing better. Not sure if this helps anyone, but maybe ask your doctor for the blood test to detect it..it's worth a shot I think!
