I just had decompression surgery in 2 places in my left foot. I chose to be awake during the surgery and it took 10 minutes. When the numbness wore off my foot already felt better than pre-surgery. Now I'm trying to walk on it a bit each day and am super nervous about going back to work next week. I am an elementary teacher and rarely get to sit during the day. Any advice?

I had alcohol shots.. seven of them guided injections using ultrasound for acuracy...and they did no good.. they made it worse right away.. had an MRI to rule out fracture.. .. I am now trying physical therapy with iontophoreses using dexamethazone topically applied...first warm foot soak to open pores.. i am on my fifth ion treatment... so far a slight improvement. The best result that i've had is two things.. one/ buying special athletic shoes sketchers go run/ mens that have a lower heel base and high mid sole.. and also i bought one of those foot massagers w/ heat and i use it all night every night.. just set my feet on it while watching t.v. A foot surgeon wants to do surgery and said physical therapy is vodoo!! lol !! id**t...

Hi Michelin, I had 7 alcohol injections to address my Mornton's neuroma one week apart. They reduced the pain a bit but not enough. I'm scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks. But they do work for about 75% to 80% of the people so it's worth trying them before having surgery. My other foot is acting up now and I am definitely going to try the alcohol injections again.

dont get the surgery or the shots.... instead. do what I did to get rid of mine... I had iontophoresis .. a non invasive method of delivering the same steroid but directly to the area.. My stupid arse doctor told me the alcohol was not steriod but it is a mixture and very damaging... the ionto is no pain.. and you can do three times a week for four weeks and it will be gone..

This "hole" was so large, that I could actually see down into the web space and it constantly poured clear liquid. After about a month of this going on, the decision was made for an additional surgery where his suspicions were confirmed about the lack of blood supply. I'm just surprised that there weren't far worse complications that had arisen from this, Nevertheless, whatever he did seemed to work because I never dealt with any similar issues after this occurrence.
