I am addicted to smelling toilet bowl deodorizer too, I also buy the ones that hang in the closet. I love sniffing them for seconds at a time and I like to crumble it into powder and just play with it in my hands. I've been sniffing them since I was a little girl and I cannot seem to stop sniffing them. I'm 24 years old now and even when I don't buy them for a while, I start to crave the smell and buy a whole bunch of them. I read that it may cause cancer and the main ingredient is parachlorobenzene and I know it says it's harmful but I don't know how to stop. What should I do?

Moth Balls can make you have Aplastic Anemia - Exposure to toxic chemicals. Secondary aplastic anemia has been linked to exposure to toxic chemicals, such as some used in hair dyes, herbicides and insecticides. Exposure to benzene - an ingredient in gasoline, mothballs, paint and varnish removers, dry-cleaning solutions, and some glues and household cleaners - also has been linked to secondary aplastic anemia. This type of anemia sometimes gets better on its own if you avoid repeated exposure to the chemicals that caused the initial illness.

My mom always used to put mothballs around the house and I never really noticed till she put a moth bar in my closet...that's when I got adicted to the smell. At the age of 9 I started sneaking in the storage room and stealing morhballs. Haven't gotten caught yet even tho I'm 13 now. I'm addicted to them so badly

I know this might be the scariest thing you have to do now is tell your parents or some other adult and tell them about your problem with sniffing aka huffing mothballs, so you can get the help that you desperately need. Go to your doctor immediately and ask for an blood test to see if you are anemic, tell him you have been inhailing mothballs since the age of now. This is nothing to be ashamed of.

I am also addicted to moth balls.. It started when I was pregnant with my son last year. I 1st started putting them in containers around the house so I could open the lid and smell them no matter what room I may be in. I then progressed to crushing them up to get a strong smell of them. after having my son in June it intensified, I began to sniff the powder just to the point of the dust being able to sit in my nostrils. I had the cravings for the smell of moth balls when I was pregnant with my daughter 9 years ago but was able to kick it once I gave birth to her. I'm happy to see I'm not alone in my struggles.

So do I. I too have a naphthalene addiction from 2 years. I really feel high after I take nearly 20 sniffs of naphthalene. I really tried to avoid them but I was not even able to avoid them even for two days. I want a cure for it before anything bad happens. I always think if I could get cancer or a tumor for sniffing naphthalene too much but I can't avoid them.:(

I eat mothballs daily. I started out smelling them but it hurt my face and sinuses so I just took a taste....immediately addicted. I'm anemic already but getting worse.
I like the smell, the taste, and the feeling of the granules in my mouth. I seek people to talk to about this.
Feel free to contact me. I don't know how to stop even though it's killing me.
