I forgot to add, that my nose gets blocked very badly nearly every time I am asleep, it blocks my nose that bad, I wake up from a sound and deep sleep.. Then it takes a lot of time to unblock again keeping me from falling asleep again. It has been very annoying as OT ruins my sleep far to many times, causing me to be very tired all the time.

I have similar symptoms to what has been described by many here. I had a very bad cold/flu with very intense infections about 4 months ago, that was in December. Since then, I always have to much mucus. My nose is leaking a lot of times over the day, depending on what I am doing and if I am outside or interiors, it either leaks more or it dries up completely causing it do be very uncomfortable in my nose and bothering me very much to breath if it is blocked as it takes a long time to get moist again and to clear my airways. Also I have constantly mucous in my throat/chest which when I breath makes strange noises and if I try to spit it out it is pale yellow and very thick mixed with saliva. I did never have this kind of problems before. They only came with this very chronic flu/cold that I had in December. Since then it does not seem to go away. I even reduced smoking cigarettes to the point that I could say I stopped smoking as I maximum smoke 2-3 of the lightest cigarettes in a week or two. But the symptoms have not changed, nor even improved a little. Can someone please tell me what are these problems exactly and has someone experience about how to get rid off this? Thanks for reading and I appreciate if you take the time to answer or to give me more information. Thanks a lot..

Try stopping dairy completely. For the bad breath, use Smart Mouth 24 hr Mouthwash.

I am only 13 and sometimes (usually in the afternoon) It seems like I have to clear my throat but when I try, the feeling just stays there. I am not sure if these things are connected but also when I lay down in bed at night and try to fall asleep one of my nostrils get clogged up, EVERY TIME, usally my left one. And when I wake up the clogged nose gos away after about ten minutes but then I have plugged ears that won't go away. I think this is an alergy because it seems like it only happens during spring and summer.

I think this is an epidemic and doctors really don't know how to cure it. Nobody is even really studying it because the throat and digestive system are very complicated.
Never in a million years did I think I would start suffering from severe post nasal drip and mucus stuck in my lower throat area that I have to constantly go Uh hum, to kind of move it away from my vocal chords. So I look like a turkey or as if I am just getting over a cold and if I can't say uh hum, then I have to bear this heaviness in my lungs that I am so uncomfortable to even talk or do anything or even breathe - I just want to run home. It is affecting my speech because I can't talk when it is there sitting on my vocal chords so I end up sounding like a frog or no sound comes out at all. It is ruining my quality of life. I know things can be worse in life but this condition really sucks. Sometimes I think maybe it's because of not enough saliva to wash it all down - as that is probably how it was always done but we never realized it. So could be the saliva drying up...It doesn't matter if I am thin or fat or if I eat late at night or not, coffee or no coffee, I am plagued with this disorder.

So what on earth out of the blue just dropped this on me??? Was it a flu virus and it attacked something in my system? Was it some food I was eating or drinking pop over the years that it backfired on me? Did my anatomy change or is something growing or some fungus or secret sinus condition? Was it the puffers I took for my cold and then the cortisone damaged something in my throat/lungs? Nobody knows the answer to this bizarre condition.

I have no reflux- no issues with any acid going up. No heavy mucus spitting out either. So can't be Gerd. I wasn't diagnosed with Gerd either and the doctors checked my stomach and all is okay.

Doctors told me to take Zantac and didn't want to see me anymore. Well even Zantac doesn't help. No herbal products help either. I tried everything.
WE NEED MORE RESEARCH ON THIS!!! PEOPLE NEED HELP.

I have the exact same thing as you - for several years. Just this feeling that you need to clear your throat and you try to but it doesn’t work exactly like you said either there’s not enough to cough it up or it’s just difficult- my kids laugh at me because They think it’s funny when I try so hard to clear my throat. never taken anything for it - but every time I’m about to get on a call for work I always attempt to clear my throat and then I can’t and I usually just drink water or some thing and it fixes itself. I did have part of my thyroid removed years ago -you didn’t happen to have your thyroid removed also did you? Just wondering if that could have any correlation I don’t really recall having this issue prior to that.

Not for me, I haven't had any surgery that might have caused it.

I have fantastic news that can hopefully help some of you. I am on day 10 of 25mg Zoloft for general anxiety that hit me like a truck a few months ago. Not only have my brutal anxiety symptoms cleared up but the horrid, awful, suffocating snot glob I've struggled to clear from behind the left side of my throat every day for over THREE YEARS is gone!!!!!! I thought it was completely unrelated and would require additional doctors appointments and possibly allergy meds but within the first two days of my Zoloft prescription, my nose started running like crazy and my throat cleared for a little bit longer every day. Now day ten and it hasn't returned!! It blows my mind that for me, it was anxiety related this whole time.

You should have your vocal chords checked. I had a raspy voice and occasional discomfort. It turned out my vocal chords were paralyzed and I was using the lesser vocal chords that you aren’t supposed to be using. I had surgery and then had to have speech therapy to help me speak properly and use the proper vocal chords. The surgery was real easy. Good luck.

I am unable to find a permanent cure for too much mucous. So has anyone get any antibiotics or remedies to cure this problem?

I was in your shoes and after years of research landed on the site. Spend time clicking around and read his interviews. You just may have a special form of acid reflux known by several names: silent reflux, airway reflux, laryngeal reflux. It is not the same as GERD.
