Hi, is the mucus plug developing in pregnancy beneficial for fetus or not? I haven’t read about it in books for pregnant women, so I am interested to know.

The mucus plug is an accumulation of secretions formed within the opening to the uterus. It is actually the cervical canal, where the mucus plug is formed. The mucus has protective role, as it forms barrier against infection between the outside world and your growing baby.
