Might be worth telling your doc what temperature you are registering around your scrotal sac. I have the same problem and temperature is usually 92° or higher, so over-heating may be a reason.

I've acquired the same condition about 8yrs ago. The flaking of the skin seems to be worse at certain times of the month. Most of the time it is not there but when it does appear it gradually gets worse an it is always on the same spot. It hasn't spread or anything but on a few spots. It started after I got back from my vacation in Florida. I was at the beach and a few days later I started to itch down there. A few days more I realized certain areas on my scotum was peeling and cracking. I think it's some kind of bacteria, perhaps part of the flesh eating type. I've noticed its always there even when I dont see it and then I have my breakouts. After peeling the dead skin the skin beneath it is shiny and sometimes it gets red and slightly breaking the skin causing it to bleed slightly. I've wanted to go to the doctor but was to embarrassed. This is my opinion that it was aquire by contacting something, in my case it was in the water.

As one of the other guys said to use aloe Vera gel, it works. I had this flaky skin after I shaved and it wasn't an STD as I am a virgin. I had this Aloe Vera hand soap in my bathroom so put some all over my scrotum and waited around 10 minutes to get in the shower. Once I got in a hot shower, the aloe Vera made the flaky skin soft and it all wiped right off. It's been about 2 days and it hasn't come back. It works.

The most likely problem that most of you appear to be having is a Fungal Infection. It is commonly called "Jock Itch", or more technically 'Candida Cruris'. It is the same kind of problem as Tinea (the fungal infection you can get between your toes - same symptoms).

It will NOT go away on it's own, it needs to be treated. More than that, it is highly contagious, so other people can get it too (from you). It will also spread to other areas of your body (ie: down your thigh, around your anus, to your toes etc.)

The red inflamed sections on your scrotum is your body's way at trying to control that infection (removing the dead flaky skin removes part of the infection - ironically however, this is also how the infection spreads to other areas/people as the flakes are loaded with fungus).

TREATMENT IS SIMPLE and is managed easily with over-the-counter topical anti-fungal creams bought at your local pharmacy.

I used a product called "Daktarin Gold" and symptoms had resolved in almost a week after a period of almost 3 months with constant symptoms. If you cannot find "Daktarin Gold" look at other creams and buy one with the active ingredient of "Ketoconazole".

Apply daily after you have washed and dried the affected areas (remove ALL flaky skin if you can). Apply up to an inch outside of the affected areas as well, as the fungus may be present there also. May also be a good idea to wear a disposable latex glove as you do so (remember, highly contagious).

You will likely see a dramatic improvement in about a week, but continue applying the cream daily for up to two weeks AFTER symptoms have COMPLETELY resolved. Fungus can leave dormant spores that can cause a resurgence of infection later - so for a lasting solution keep at it. Also dry yourself completely after showers and baths and remember to clean the towels after use (infection!). Regularly change and wash your underwear, pants and socks (Infection! Infection! Infection!). Basic hygene rules should apply. There is no point to getting rid of this condition if you're just going to put your old crusty/flakey undies on 2 weeks later, you will just get infected again. This solution also works for Tinea (if you have this as well).

I hope this helps, there has been a lot of misinformation presented in this thread so far

- No amount of washing, scrubbing or soaking in water will fix this.

- Unless you are allergic to a hand lotion or shampoo, neither have any bearing on fungal infections and their symptoms (but shampoo and lotions *can* strip the natural oils from your skin which help protect your body against these infections)

- Masturbation also has no bearing on this issue - but dirty hands can lead to infection and not cleaning up after doesn't help.

I was young when i had it (late teens). It was red, itchy to the point of madness, had spread to my upper inner thighs and was cracking and flaking while leaving raw patches of skin underneath. It is not fun - especially if you don't know what it is. I still get it every now and then, but the above treatment has never failed me.

Try this solution and see how it goes, but for the love of god remember this:

If Symptoms Persist SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!!

Good luck guys :)

I can tell you how to get rid of it. I am still not sure what it is but have had the same thing for a year and I am 50 years old and I treat it the same as I treat athletes feet (My dads remedy). 1 part bleach and 3 parts water mixed in a cup. Go in shower and coat the area it may sting a little in places but pour it on and work it in to skin thoroughly for atleast 30 seconds or a good minute. It will burn some after a minute then turn on the shower and rinse. It will improve immediately I some times do a repeat treatment the next day. It pops up again sometimes but that does get rid of it. Do the same with athletes foot too except usualy use strait bleach and it it kills it dead too with one treatment.

I got the same problem but it lasted only for a day. The previous night the left side burned a lot as if on fire! After bearing the pain the next morning the skin was all chapped! But then it came off! Nothing to worry

Your bodies are allergic to things in your environment and food. It will not do any harm but it is a nuisance. There is no cure except drink only water and only eat cabbage. The food which most effects it is an omelette of onion, processed cheese and eggs.
