I am so sorry about your parents. I would love to ask you some questions if you don't mind. I have a 4 year old daughter who was born addicted to methadone and I've been trying to get as much information as I can on any long-term effects.

I have a question for you and please no rude comments please my daughter is 11 months old will be one next month. And she is very ADHD I think she don't listen very well when we tell her to not do something I was on methadone my whole pregnancy with her and not by the clinic either by my obgyn doctor and kept me at 35 mgs he wrote me a prescription for the tablets well anyways I stayed at that dose I never took a extra one and he told me if I was to stay at that mg that there would be no way my baby girl would be addicted to the methadone, well at birth (C-section) they tolde she swallowed some poop and had to get cleaned out well then they told me she was having withdrawals from the methadone so put her on morphine for 6 weeks and finally got to bring her home and it was very hard she never slept and on top of everything else she has bad acid reflux anyways I'm just wondering will she eventually grow out of her throwing a fit all day and screaming to the top of her lungs? She throws a fit about everything possible and is very mean she will scratch me and scream at me and refuses to stay on her sleeping schedule please I need help any advise helps it's gotten so bad me and my husband can't even watch a movie together in our own home because she don't want me touching her dad she won't let me put her down at all she is latched onto my hip all day long she is a true mommy's girl and I can't even have a sitter watch her because she acts out so bad I'm in desperate need of some answers and I pray y'all have some

There could be many reasons this child is like this, I also have a child in my family that I am very close too born on methadone and didn’t show any of those signs also all studies on kids born on methadone show very little long term effects. And to say they have no one to blame for themselves , she went to get help and get off drugs and if they are still sober you should see that they did the right thing for their child.

I have a family member who had a child while on methadone , he is now 8 years old and hasn’t showed any real concerns. He has had very minor medical issues but nothing connected to being born on methadone. When he was first home from the hospital he did cry a lot and had to be held all the time couldn’t even put him down to sleep long so be prepared of that but e wry baby is different and it didn’t last long. He was well behaved baby and toddler and didn’t have any developmental delays, other than needing a little extra help in school but again that may not even be due to methadone. My opinion is it is a lot better than still using or withdrawing while pregnant. If it can help you get sober to be a good mother than it is definitely worth it,

My granddaughter was born addicted to methadone. She is smart, and healthy, other than her snoring and upper respiratory problems. Is there anything natural I can do to help this? She gets sick a lot. Please reply. Thank you.
