My tongue hurts but no bumps!

BIOTENE Mouth Wash  works for me. I got immediate pain releif. It replaces missing emzymes. Buy it at any drug store.

It is usually stress related and has something to do with immune system. I don't think there is any better treatment other than drinking lots of water and having regular sleep.

I saw an Oral Pain specialist at UMDNJ and he told me it was possible Never damage by due to dental work ((injection gone wrong)) ...he gave me steroids that didn't help at all... I started taking vitamin B12 3000 on my own and its not gone 100% but its much better.

I've had a painful tongue on the right underside for about 6 months. I finally was referred to a neurologist. Who now thinks its in the nerves and muscles of my tongue. I see him again tomorrow for more info. But since I started the nerve Meds and muscle relaxers it's a little better. But I feel your pain.

I have this too! But it dosent hurt swalloing.

About a year ago i had this same problem and now its off and on; which today is on.  It hurts and feel like something is poking it.  Eat and drinking is a chore.  Well I went to my denstist for a regular check up and my hygenist asked me if I eat alot of salsa or anything acidic basically. I was like yeah why she said because your tongue looks like it hurts really bad.  She suggested using chloroseptic throat spray she said it works really well.  I haven't tried the chloroseptic but I did lay off the acidic things and it seems to go away, but I really like spicy food so i basically try to deal lol

It might help to use homeopathy, I used it and GOD, IT LEFT ME IN A DAY!

After reading 4 pages of posts last night and comparing my systems with others... my tongue feels like little paper cuts all across the top and it aches and hurt bad and there is a slight discoloration but not overly "fuzzy" and it has been like this for 2 weeks, I looked around my house and decided to take a multi-vitamin before going to bed and start trying other remedy's that people have posted this morning. Well I got up this morning and by surprise my tongue didn't hurt when I pressed it to the roof of my mouth like it did before, so all I am saying is maybe it has something to do with that vitamin B deficiency that lots of others have spoke about.  Good Luck to all ... this system is very painful and frustrating and since taking the multi-vitamin (so far) might have worked for me - I was so amazed that I had to get on here and post my results.

I got my wisdom teeth done and it just started to hurt. my mom said its just a sore but I don't see anything there. I did the whole swallow thing and it feels lime I'm putting to much pressure on that side. how do I stop?

sh*t hurts bad i was taking antibiotics and tounge started hurting my dentist told me that i have caught thrash i stopped taking it. I started taking amoxicilion for my jaw bone and it started again,my tongue is hurting fu****ing bad .No more meds that causes the sh*t

I have had the same problem off & on for years, it seems to be caused by bad bacteria and a really good probiotic will do the trick, make sure to get the ones that you can get in a capsule ( there is one at wal-mart ) it is called " Pearls Probiotics " it is about $20.00 but it worked for me,I just need to be more consistant and keep taking them,that seems to be the cure. I think I will become a tongue doctor,yall are right there is really noone who helped me either ( just alot of trial & error ) and alot of hurting ( my tongue ) in the process.And to answer one lady's remark,I do believe it is a form of Thrush ( like what infants get ) and it is a yeast overgrowth.
