My daughter is 9 1/2 and she has ADD. Her Doctor right away prescribed aderall 10mg. When she started to have extreme mood swings, trouble sleeping, and massive headaches at night. He then said we needed to up her mg to 20mg. She was only taking the 10mg for a month. I have never wanted to have my daughter on this med in the first place. I totally disagree with giving this type of drug to a child but, because everyone told me it was the right thing to do, I did. I stopped giving her the aderall last week when I was laying next to her in bed, trying to get her to sleep and she looked up at me, I noticed I could not see any of the color in her eyes. Her pupils were so open, I have never seen someone's pupils that big, ever in my life. I'm done with this med and all other. I have found a new approach. It is a Natural Remedy for ADD called Focus. As a Doctor, would you suggest trying something more natural rather than giving a child a drug, that changes who she is, is very addictive, she showed signs of depression and these symptoms have all disappeared in the one week she has not had it. I'm looking at my loving, sweet daughter right now and she is happy and enjoying life again. That was thee worst month of my life and her's. I'm just glad to have her back now. I feel very sorry for anyone who must take this drug or have to give it to their child. But, there are other options.
