Help, I had my gall bladder out 3 weeks ago. Recovery was normal. I am now 3 weeks post op and went on vacation far from home (6 hour plane ride) and ate a high fat meal for breakfast. Every since I have had diarreha and severe nausae (even went to the ER for help). Any one else experience this? I am starting to panic.

I had the same surgery and had the same problem afterwards (I didn't eat a high fat meal afterwards though!). OK, here's what I have. It's called 'Celiac Disease'. It is hereditary, but it requires some sort of trauma (the gallbladder surgery). Other things can trigger it, such as extremely high stress, like pregnancy, car crash etc... It's very simple to test for, just a blood test. But if you don't want to go to the doctor first, try getting off dairy and gluten. Yes, both. Sorry :-( Dairy comes in b/c it can really irritate your intestines and make everything worse. If you start to get better within about 2-3 weeks, then thats probably your problem. Just go to the hospital, tell them what happened (if it works) and simply request the test. If you are positive, I'm very sorry. Life gets a lot harder without gluten. BTW you could eventually have dairy again. I sure hope you get an answer soon, but I also don't want you have Celiac!!!
P.S. I will check in on this site regularly for any responses :-)
