I'm 23 and am on my 8th day after my tonsilectomy. I've been in the ER twice because I was vomiting profusley and the scabs were coming off. Out of no where I feel like my neck, ears and behind my head are going to explode out of my skin. I can't take pain killers because they make me sick. When I wake up in the morning, I vomit a few times still and I'm not sure if it's the mucas that's been sitting in my throat all night, the swollen uvula gagging me...I don't know. I can take the pain, but is it normal to feel like your glands are going to explode? And PLEASE PLEASE tell me what I can do for the nausea! They gave me finigrin sapasatories, I've tried sleeping sitting up...PLEASE if anyone has had similar issues, what did you do?
Hi there, I'm really sorry to hear that you're not doing well but it's the pain that is causing your gland problem. Really the best thing you can do is take ginger if you have nausea and you refuse to take the painkillers. Can you let me know how that works for you?

Hey there,

I am also on my eighth day post tonsillectomy. I had issues with vomiting and they gave me Fenigran (sp?) which provided no relief. I wound up in the hospital for dehydration since I couldn't keep anything down. They gave me a drug called Zofran (sp?) through the IV as well as fluids. They sent me home with Zofran tablets that dissolve in my mouth so I don't even have to swallow them. I am doing so much better. My doctor suspected the nausea was mostly due to taking pain killers on an empty stomach. I would highly recommend phoning your doctor and asking for this medicene. Two days ago I was incoherent and could not stay awake. Now I am wide awake and walking around. Also, I can eat food and keep myself hydrated which makes all of the difference. I am even talking a little!

I feel your pain, I hope it gets better!
