Can anyone tell me what may help hydradenitis suppurativa? I have large draining boils and most of them are in very uncomfortable areas. So far I couldn’t find any med that could help me. Please give me any information that might help me. Thanks
Hello!
I’ve had HS and since I was 16 (I am 30 now). Unfortunately I have to tell you there isn't a "cure" for it and when I say that I really mean that. You can’t find one anywhere - I've traveled the world and tried every doctor and medicine I could find (surgery included) but never managed to find the cure. But, on the other hand, during those inquiries I’ve learned that the best way to deal with it is to use medicines that clean your liver and lymphs which causes the flares. I suggest you do the same – I hope it helps.
For years my husband has had flareups of boils or hydradenitis or whatever it is under his armpits. I recently learned through the internet that natural honey has amazing healing power that nothing else even comes close to. This past week he had a flare up, so we made a bandage and coated it good with honey, that nite the boil began to drain, the next day we made another dressing with honey, that night when we took the bandage off a white core the size of a marble came out with the bandage. I have never in my life seen anything like this. This is the first time in 27 years he has had a core to come out, it has always just been drainage. I truly believe that the honey drawed the core out.
Check out some of the websites for cures and healing properties of honey.
Good Luck and May God Bless You!

i am a heavy smoker and have always been a little overweight but when the doctor that diagnosed my condition could only offer me 2 options (1) clindamycin which if it had an effect took forever to do anything, and (2) surgery which i wanted to avoid if at all possible.
since 1/2 a year ago i had tried rectal ozone insufflation to treat a severe case of bronchitis with excellent results..i figured i might as well try it for my hydradenitis.
with 2 days of an enema followed by a 20 minute rectal ozone insufflation treatment the sores had melted away and after 2 more treatments they were completely gone.
during this period of time i kept drinking lots of water and tried to keep my diet loaded with mostly fruits and veggies avoiding bread, milk and sugars.
i hope this helps anyone else that has had difficulty with finding treatments that work.

I was just told today that they can do hormone therapy for the girls, but it is testosterone flare ups that make the cysts happen. They can give antibiotics for flare ups, but they will not hel for long. If I elect not to do the flare up they can remove all of the glands from me, but it will be expensive and painful. I laughed and asked if the dr knew how painful my boils were already. I hope this helps you......
Wow - I didn't know anyone else had HD-it has been such a long painful and embarrassing condition!
I have had this condition since I was 15 years old, I am now 42. I used to get Cysts the size of baseballs under my armpits. The life-long answer was an experimental surgery where all my hair follicles and sweat glands were removed. It was very painful and required 1 week hospitalization and drainage tube for several weeks. Only one arm could be operated on at a time and the surgery requires about 4 weeks recovery time. But I have to say I have never had a cysts in that area again.
I also had numerous cysts in the groin area (I'm a woman), week after week, month after month - arriving at the ER to have large cysts excised again in the middle of the night or go to my surgeon who surgically removed the root of the the core of the cyst in his office. After years of pain and frustration a Cosmetic Surgeon tried another experimental surgery scraping and removing all the hair follicles and old cyst cores out of the groin region. It required another 4-6 weeks recovery and wearing a special girdle so my stitches wouldn't bust! Today I get a cyst once or twice a year they are very small and barely need a small band-aid.
Lastly, I had a Pilanidal cyst for several years near the area of my butt-bone. It would become inflamed and infected; I could not sit or walk when it flared once a month or more. In 2006 a surgeon removed the Pilanidal cyst for good - from the inside of the Cyst's core and out! Another 4 weeks to recover and no more Pilanidal Cysts!
The pure and simple answer is to remove the core of the cyst completely otherwise it will just continue to come back! I spent years taking 2-3 Antibiotics at a time, weekly excisions of multiple cysts, supplements, vitamins, cortisone shots, vitamin B shots, etc...
The short-term pain from Major Hair Follicle and Sweat Gland Removal Surgery was less painful than years and years of chronic, recurring pain from multiple colonies of Hydradenitis Suppurativa Cysts!
I learned a few tricks along the way that helped me live with the pain, discomfort, embarrassment and scarring until they REMOVED ALL OF THE ROOTS:
SCRUB Daily with Anti-Bacterial Soap in Groin, Buttock & Armpit Areas
Do Not Consume Oily or Fried Foods
Do Not Shave Hair in Armpit or Groin Region
Do Not Wear any Nylons - use Thigh Highs
Do Not Wear Banded Underwear - Wear Boxers Only
Do Not Wear Tight Jeans, Pants or Nylon Bathing Suits
Loose a few pounds - less places for Cysts to hide
During major Hormonal or Pregnancy Changes, expect many more Cysts
Lots of SITS BATHS to Soften Cysts for Removal & Healing
Don't give up - with Major Surgery or other New Experimental Treatments they can and will go away!
