I am a 53 year old woman. I started sweating profusely between my thighs at night so that is why I am on this and other sites. I have been on anti-depressants most of my life, but about the same time this started, I was put on Effexor. Now I am beginning to wonder if that is the culprit as many people have commented on anti-depressants possibly causing this problem. I would have your doctor switch your depressant.

Mine started with Xanax, even on occasion my legs sweat. I think anti depressants and thyroid problems cause it as well.

Reading the book WomanCode by Alissa Vitty I came through the cause of this burden. It happens because our body has so much stress that assumes that we are in constant danger, so our hormones (cortisol mainly, so it affects males as well) are out of whack.

Shortly, the cause is adrenal fatigue due stress. Stress has many ways of "showing", and this sweats are one of those. Check your levels, watch your caffeine and processed food intake and it should improve.

Good luck!

Are any of you on medication? It can be a side effect.

I've been dealing with this for quite a while now, and I've figured out that if eat any less than 2-3 hours before I go to bed, I wake up to drenched legs and sheets. I've tested this theory out multiple times, and realized the heavier I eat before I go to bed, the worse it is. So I stopped eating, at the very least 2 hours before I go to bed and it hasn't happened at all. Hope this helps. G

I am 68 year old married man and have cold, sweating legs at night, regardless of the temperature, or humidity in the room. Sometimes, leg pain accompanies it. I have had it since I was 28 years old. My mother had it all her life also, since she was 20.

Your legs are sweating because you have too much covers on them. It's normal.
