I have drank a lot over the last ten years and have not had a problem like this, but for the last two years I have been taken Melatonin for sleep and in the last three months have had the leg sweating

I'm so glad I'm not the only one having this problem! I'm 37, type II diabetic with well-controlled levels, and have autoimmune Hashimoto's disease, but I have extremely debilitating migraines and take both nortriptyline and verapamil as prophylactic treatment for them. I have a visit soon with my neurologist, so I will ask about if maybe my medications are the cause.

After reading your post. I too think it's the medication. I Just started a month ago and the leg sweating came after. Plus I am biting my tounge at night while I am sleeping and waking up to the pain is awful. I never exspeareance this before taking a antidepressant medication. I see my Dr next week. must ask if this is normal to go though these side effects. Depression & Anxiety is enough. I don't need sweating legs and biting my tounge during the night when all I want to do is have a peaceful night sleep.

In traditional chinese medicine, night sweating has a couple of different causes, but is most often associated with a is Yin deficiency. Night sweating all over the body is normally a Kidney Yin deficiency, while night sweating that only affects the legs would most likely be Spleen (inner legs) or Stomach (fronts of shins) Yin deficiency. This may sound strange to people not familiar with chinese medicine, but I post it here so you can be aware of a system of medicine to which these symptoms are not so unusual. If your medical doctor has ruled out the more serious causes of night sweating, you might consider seeking out a chinese medicine practitioner in your area. NCCAOM is the accrediting board for all states except CA & NM and can tell you what to look for in a practitioner. Additionally I would suggest someone who is certified in both acupuncture and herbal medicine as this condition generally suggests an imbalance that's been developing for a long time and may require herbal treatments to reverse.

Many western pharmaceuticals are recognized by Chinese medicine to contribute to yin deficiency.

Yes @john3233185504 what you experienced as a kid in your legs is restless legs syndrome without a doubt. I suffer from this condition not only in both my legs but now both my arms aswel and it's awful. I also suffer from my thighs down to my ankles dripping and soaking my bed sheets but not all the time. It just cokes and goes as it pleases. I asked my gp about it aswel as others but none of them have a clue what it is or what's causing it to happen. I also suffer with my thyroid but my Meds are correct for my levels. I never used to have leg sweats until after I had an op and that's when mine started so I know it's not caused by any of my Meds or my happy pills as I have been on the same ones for years now and without any problems.

You are also suffering from restless legs syndrome, like alot of us with these leg sweats problem. I also have RLS & also get it in both my arms aswel as both legs all at the same time usually but can alternate and is bloody horrible. I also have an under active thyroid but have had bloods done and levels are right for my Meds so I know it's not that. I also take antidepressant medication and have been on the same one and dosage since 2013 and It has only been since last August 2015 that my leg sweats started and I wake up with soaking wet sheets. My top half is completely fine, not hot not cold etc and I have to sleep with both my legs out if the cover with nothing coving them just so they dry off and the dripping stops that way but I hate it coz then my feet get cold so I have to wear socks or put my slippers on. Have seen 3 GPS about this sweating and none of them have a clue what it is or what's causing it and couldn't even be arsed to look into it more either so just been left to get on with it.
