Hi, im 17 years old, and last July i gt the implant in my arm, since thn i have had no period, 9 months later and i have a light brown discharge, sometimes with a little bit of pink. I have been havin really bad headachs and feelin under the weather and dizzy. I have had some abdomin pain. I did have tender breasts around about 2 wks ago. I have been sexualy active since havin the implant in, have used condoms most times, althought not a couple of times recently. Really worried and not sure what to do. Please help me.
Hi:
Could there be a problem with the implant? What is the life expectancy of the implant? Your doctor can answer that question. None of the BC methods are absolutely, 100% fool proof. This means that there is a very small chance of failure. Because you are sexually active, there is always a chance of pregnancy. Wait about a week or so and then take a test. You can confirm it a few days later by taking a test at a medical office. I wish you the best. Please let us know what you find out and how you are doing.

I know that all this confusion can be very scary but just take a few deep breaths to calm down a bit. Stressing it can actually trick your mind into showing signs or thinking your showing signs of pregnancy. The implant is supposed to be 99% effective so I think that you are ok. The dizziness, bad headaches etc. can very well be caused by the implant as it is relseasing hormones into your body. I know with the birth control pills I literally had every sign of pregnancy, including weird food cravings, yet I was never pregnant. Hormones can really confuse your body in this way and cause many side effects. Read the information if you have any that your doctor gave you about the implant or look it up online to see if what you feel is a side effect of the implant. The only way to know if you are pregnant or not is to take a test. Since you said you haven't had a period for a while I would either buy a bunch of tests (and definitely refrain from unprotected sex till you know for sure) and test every week or so. Also you can go to the doctor and they can do a blood test which will tell you if you are pregnant or not. I wish you the best!
