Hi, my son is 12 years old, and he is already overweight. I think that is a huge problem, and I don’t know how could I let this happen. I will put him on a healthy diet, but first I have to learn something about it. Most diets have no sugar and no carbs allowed. I want to know is this a right solution?

Hello, I have been on many diets in the last couple of years, but not because I’m fat, but because I like to try new things and to eat healthy. You can never know what is best for you, until you try it. If your son is only 12 years old, I don’t think it’s smart to forbidden him both sugar and carbs. He is a child, and he needs both sugar and carbs to grow and develop normally. Instead of candies, he can get sugar from fruits, and instead of hamburgers, he can get carbs from integral bread and rise. This is very important thing to remember. Nothing should be forbidden, just replaced for the healthier variant. Beside this, you should make him interested in sports. This is equally important as a diet.
