I have been with the Nuvaring for the past 3 years. Never had any problems with it, before I used to be on the pill for 5 years.
This month it is been a bit of a nightmare. I had UTI was prescribed antibiotics and asked the doctor for interactions, for which she said no problem don't worry about it. I did not have sex for the time I was taking antibiotics plus an extra 10 days after my treatment (I was on holiday away from my boyfriend). When I came back we had unprotected sex 3 to 5 times. I was reading on the internet that even if the antibiotic were to affect the effectiveness it doesn't 7 days after your treatment (with oral contraceptive, which is related due to gut absorption), e.g you just have to use condoms for duration of treatment + 7 days.
I took my ring on the 10th, no period just two days of spotting (barely) and some time when wiping some tissue like brown blood, but having cramps. I had a pregnancy test three days after my period was due and everything came back negative.
Do you think there is a chance of pregnancy? It is slim due to being on the ring for so long, not having had sex during antibiotics and the schedule was perfect, e.g. no user errors.
Should I go to the doctor to double check?
