I just had my third attack. Worse than the first two with new GI symptoms. I have suspected beef allergy because we have a lot of tick borne illness in this geographic region and because of the delayed reaction (always about 6 hours after dinner). I will have a blood test to confirm. I wanted to post because I didn’t see this in the comments.

I have had all those symptoms for the last ten years, check for Alpha Gal caused from the lone star tick. It is a mammal meat allergy. The symptoms can get crazy and this is spot on. Lay off the mammal and see if you get better.

I too have suffered with milder versions of what has been described, i.e. itchy scalp, palms, and groin, severe night headaches, accompanied by insomnia and increased heart palpitations, mucous/phlegm in the head. I have now read several well research articles on HISTOMINE INTOLERENCE and I realize this is my problem. It's complex problem and explains a lot of symptoms.

ADVICE FROM A NUTRITIONIST SUFFERING FROM THESE ATTACKS HERSELF: Even though it sounds like one of these health crazes, please consider to get off the gluten! I did this as an experiment during my study nutrition and noticed I did not have any attacks anymore. As soon as I ate gluten again, during summer holiday (hey, I'm on holiday and want to enjoy my food I thought) I had an attack again. I have been eaten gluten free for 3 years now and get the occasional attack after having eaten something with gluten, even foods with 'traces of gluten' sets me off. And yes, it is very hard to go off the gluten, if you looooove pasta, nice bread, cookies and all these things. But for me, it's not worth an attack. I am so happy I discovered this after all those useless tests! No more unpredictable attacks anymore. An attack is bad enough as it is, but it can hit you any time at the most inconvenient moments. Note: you need to go off gluten 100%, so read your labels carefully.

take an antihistamine as soon as you notice symptoms. It's usually something you've eaten.

Had the same thing for years. Now I finally got a dr who knows . Caused by a tick bite that makes you allergic to meat. Have your Dr do a blood test for Alpha gal. Exact same as you. I cannot eat any meat from a 4 legged animal. I can now eat only fowl, and fish. Chicken turkey fish.I have to keep Epi pen cause Dr said sometime it may be mild and next time may not make it to the hospital. Look up allergy to Mammalian meat. And go to allergist and have him test you for that Alpa gal.

I have been dealing with this for years. It is an allergic reaction. Take a Zyrtec at the first sign of onset. Mine is traced to having large amounts of chocolate or other sweets near bedtime. Although I have had reactions at times when I had not eaten anything wrong. Have Zyrtec with you in the car and whenever you travel. Mine was horrible gas pain, followed by itchy palms, top of head, bottom of feet. I also would start to have sweat pouring off of me even though I was shivering and feeling cold. Those severe symptoms were all from before I discovered that Zyrtec would protect me from these severe and scary symptoms.

Did you ever receive a diagnosis?

Hello fellow sufferers. It is indeed a slight relief to know one is not alone in this. I have had a few of these episodes since October 2017. Mine are accompanied by joint pains which I started experiencing long before the episodes. Some foods do seem to trigger these episodes especially milk. For a while I have also struggled with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) which I seem to have got under control through diet and small food portions before bed time. The more I read about my symptoms the more it points to autoimmune disease. One of the causes of autoimmune diseases is the leaky gut and in my case I suspect this is the case but I am yet to get a doctor's opinion. I have found a good read about leaky gut here ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of web addresses is not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use. They have free webinars on resolving leaky gut issues with one of them in 3 days time I am looking forward to it.
