my oldest son was diagnosed with strep throat and put on an anti biotic. Three days later, my youngest son had a scratchy throat was not feeling well. I took him to the doc. and his strep test came out neg. Two days later, his throat is even more sore, has a fever, and had vomited...but no other cold symptoms. Is it possible that we got the strep test too early and the bacteria did not show when the frist strep test was taken? Should we go back to the doc. to get another strep test or just wait it out like a virus.

This is most like a cold virus. Unless he has the symptoms of your son that had strep I would think of it as a flu. You can always call your doctor and describe the symptoms to be sure but I have had strep and I don't remember throwing up or fever. Make sure he has enough fluids so his throat is not to dry and if he likes ( which with a sore throat myself I prefer ) a cold beverage. And if he can manage and if you want to try 1/4 cup of honey with 1/4 cup of vinegar and take one table spoon six times a day the vinegar will kill the bacteria. I hope both your sons get better and I hope I helped
