I am on birth control, and have been for 10+ years. This month I was late taking a pill in the 2nd week by about 10 hours. I took it within the same 24 hour period, but it was late. I had no symptoms because of that. Afterwards, my fiancee and I used spermicide as a back up during intercourse.

My period arrived right on schedule, Tuesday, but it was light and it has not picked up. Its is mostly spotting, as I would never even know it happened if I didn't have a tampon in. It is light brownish in color, with some red. I also have none of my regular symptoms such as back ache and minor cramping in the uterus. I have felt a little nausea here and there for the last 3 days. No tender breast, no dizziness, peeing all the time, nothing.

I found a term, implantation bleeding, and wondered if that is what this is? Can you even have that when you are on the pill and not ovulating? Is any bleeding while on the pill considered a period because you do not ovulate?

I took a home pregnancy test  on Tuesday and this morning, and both were negative. Although some things I read say that if this IS implantion bleeding, I wouldn't be able to detect a pregnancy for another 4-5 days?

Is taking 1 pill late (not missed) enough to cause the flow to be so light? I have also done a enzyme detox that included some herbal pills and fiber drinks. I also tried a post-holiday deotx diet where last week I ate nothing but veggies, fruit, nuts and seeds. Are our bodies really so fickle?

Thank you!

I would take a test just in case because spotting can mean implantation which would mean you are pregnant. Good luck :)
