Hi,

I had a one night stand with a girl I'd consider "high-risk" in terms of possibly having an STD. I'm worried as the condom broke, not sure exactly when, but it's likely we had about 10 minutes of unprotected sex. The next day, I was all worried about it and noticed myself urinating quite often. Now two days later, I'm noticing that my penis has some itching just inside the head of it and I'm still urinating a lot - though the fact that I drink a lot of water may offset that. It doesn't explain the itching inside the penis head, but who knows. Not that I've ever looked too closely before, but just inside the opening of the urethra, one side looks more red and kind of "bumpy", not sure how to describe it any better than that. Obviously this has me quite freaked out, really not sure what it could be. It may be helpful to note that I have HSV1 (occasionally get cold sores on lip) and we had kissed, and she had performed oral as well.

Any advice on whether I should really be worried and seeing a doctor right away or should I wait for testing, etc?

Thanks in advance,

A Worried Guy
Hey Buddy,
Regardless of how severe your symptoms are or aren't, there is absolutely no reason to wait for testing. You can have no symptoms for years and have HIV. I mean I'm trying to scare you a little, but the fact that you had any period of time having unprotected sex with a "high-risk" individual should be enough to get tested right away. The sooner you figure out if you aquired something, the sooner you can be treated if treatable. You can write on these posts all day asking what your chances are and what someone else thinks you , but at the end of the day, even if a doctor is responding to your post, the only sure way to figure this whole thing out is to GET TESTED. Later dude, take it easy.

Well that certainly doesn't put my mind at ease. Woke this morning feeling the same mild tingling in the head of the penis, mostly on and off. Guess I'm going to the doc in the afternoon.

I'm not trying to put your mind at ease... I'm trying to get you to go get tested ASAP. You don't want to have something untreated for a while or you also don't want to be spreading anything around unknowingly. Sorry my posts dont put you at ease, but I'm talking from experience. The sooner you get in and tested, the sooner you will feel better when you find out that you have not contracted any disease....however you want to make sure.... Take it easy.

Saw the doc today, he took a swab, urine and some blood - the standard tests. Should get results in a few days. Symptoms that seem to remain are the tingling sensation inside the gland that comes and goes.

Results came back, all negative with a secondary check in 6 weeks. Guess I was paranoid and when you scare yourself that badly, you really can make yourself believe in every symptom you read about.
