My husband has optic nerve swelling. He has had MRI, neck cartoid checked, blood work. He does have sleep problems. We just keep going and being sent to specialists, but no help yet. Is it safe to take dopamine to help with sleeping? Any info would be appreciated.
The doctors thought I have autoimmune response optic neuropathy and I had cataract surgery on my left eye and on my right eye. All seemed to be going well, then I started seeing flashes of light in the left eye, but they told me nothing to worry about. Then there were grey areas, so again they said it was probably just floaters. Finally they discovered my optic nerve was swollen and sent me to a neurologist. He told me he did not think it would spread to my other eye. But it did and now I have grey areas in my vision in both eyes. I am living in absolute terror that it will come back since nobody seems to know what really triggered it to start with and I’m not sure. I can stand the stress, fear and anxiety.
This is the same thing happening to me. I just got out of the hospital because right after I had surgery in the left eye, everything was good. Then after the first-week checkup, I developed a change in my eyesight. I never had problems seeing even before the cataract surgery. But now I'm seeing black areas all over the eye vision. When dr. ordered Mri and Mrv, they noticed I have a blood clot in the sinus area of my brain. They sent me to the ER immediately to put me on blood thinners. Now I ask my eye Dr. if he needs to see me, and he tells me to come back and take a field vision test in a month. I am afraid that after a month, whatever is going on in my left eye may move to the right eye.......I'm scared. I don't know if I should see another eye dr or what. The Dr is making me feel like he is worried about something went wrong but don't want me to sue him.....so he is saying my nerve in the eye is swollen. and that the blood clot is causing it. But I didn't have a problem with the eye at all until after the surgery. I didn't have a problem seeing far at all. Just a problem when reading which I wore only cheater glasses.
