I am about to finish high school and I am thinking about my future call. I was thinking about Orthodontology and I would like to know more about this line of work. Is there anybody who can tell me what orthodontist’s job description is? Thank you in advance!
In general, orthodontist examines diagnoses and treats irregularities and malocclusions of teeth and malrelations of jaws. They evaluate radiographs, models and clinical photographs to determine the nature and extent of deficiencies caused by irregularly positioned teeth and malrelations of the jaws and then determine the types of appliances to move and guide teeth and jaws into proper positions. Orthodontists also decide on equipment, material and personnel required to treat and construct corrective appliances, and coordinate orthodontic service with other dental and medical services. Orthodontists focus on preventative and early prognosis of all associated dental disease, referring patients to specialists when the prognosis dictates.
