I also moved into a new house (bought a repo as is, with no inspection) and started getting sick. First it was sewer gas which has a sweet smell to it. The smell got so bad the kids and I had to leave our home while my husband fixed the problem. Then I kept smelling a wet smell. I was fatigued , irritable, confused. I finally knew we had to leave and refused to go back until the smell disappeared. We had a air sample test and Long story short no one believed me, even the doctors gave me the run around. I fianlly made my husband remove the siding and mold was found. It had eaten its way into the walls of my daughters bedroom ( I had moved her from this room because she was getting headaches and it smelled worse than the rest of the house.) Keep in mond this room with the mold had a return air vent in it and therefore pushed the smell throught the entire home. My husband has removed all the mold but now I have asthma, and very bad allergies. (I never had asthma before or bad allergies before). Luckilly we have another home that we were trying to sell when we bought the new problem house. We have had to launder everything and add bleach to our loads as well as wipe down every single little thing that has been moved. But now we are stuck with 2 mortgages and I dont know how we can sell the problem house. May go bankrupt, its all such a mess. So dont Give up no matter what people tell you. If your sick, there is a reason. There may be mold in the walls and it may not show up on your air sample test. o.O ! Nothing, no house, no material objects is worth your health.

OMG, these are the same symptoms as I have. I have rented a place in June, health with no problems. Since I moved in here I have been sick. Serve head aches and stiff neck, back aches, joint pain, dizzy, nausea, and diarrhea. My boyfriend also has been sick and my son has at least 4 colds since our move. Some days are so bad getting out of bed is a challenge. I really believe it is the house but I have a contract for another year, Have you guys found out anything on yours?

Me and my boyfriend moved back into our home after renting it out for 4yrs, and we have been back now for about 7months. And I have been sick ever since. It has either been the stomach bug, headaches, fatigues, coughing, sinues....basiclly everything seems to be going wrong phyiscially. I stay at home, due to a back injury, so i am in the home 5-6 days out of the week due that that injury. But now it seems like I am getting sicker by the day. I have spoken to several of my family members and a close friend and they have all said that I have never been sick like this before in my entire live. For the most part I am a very healthly person. So can somebody tell me....is this house making me sick???? And I am sure somebody is going to ask if my boyfriend is getting sick, he has a little cold here or there but nothing as serious as I have had. The renter we had in we had found out he was not taking care of the property, his dog was going to the bathroom on the carpets, and he has a mice problem. So before we moved back in we had to take care of both of those problems....I am just very sick and tired of being sooo sickjavascript:emoticon(''); Please if anyone has any suggestions please email me...***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed **

This is EXACTLY what has been happening to my boyfriend and I! Just one illness after another, terrible cough, sore throats, upset stomach, ear infections, stuffy nose, and I am exhausted all the time. My boyfriend has been missing so much work I am afraid he is going to lose his job, and he is not a sissy. Neither one of us is prone to getting sick either, it just started after we moved into this new house, which by the way was not taken care of AT ALL by the previous tenant, and every week now it's something different and always lingering. We have an infant son who hasn't been effected, thank goodness, kind of strange though. I thought it was just because we are in a new area and it's spring time, but I am starting to suspect that there is something else going on. Supposedly our landlord had the house all checked out before we moved in, but I am finding leaks and possibly even mold in the bathroom. It is just too weird! I am tired of being sick all the time! Please if anyone has any information for me contact me.

Just my opinion :It may be carbon monoxide, I would buy a detector and keep the door open for fresh air or a window cracked till you find out. You may also have allergies that make you sick from oil heat.

I normaly don't reply to amy of these post but this one sounds like what I'm going through..I have the same symptoms and I have black mold and the doctors are trying to rule out fibromynelgia..My kids are also sick age 2 and 4 complaining their body hurts all the time and ear infections and congested in the mornings..I feel so lost and depressed because doctors don't seem to know whats wrong and don't ever seem to lean towards the black mold.....

Cell towers behind my place made me not only nauseous, but I became electro-sensitive. We had to move and my life is almost impossible now as this condition is permanent and there are cell towers everywhere. I suggest you move, look up more about this and sue the cell tower company, like this woman is doing right now.

Turn off all your wireless and see what happens. Any cell towers in the area?

Hello everyone,
I just logged onto this forum to try to find out more about a reaction I had a few years ago that affected my health for years afterward. I lived in an old house in Europe where there was a lot of dust, mold and mildew, and it was also heated by a coal stove that definitely had a small leak. I caught bronchitis after I left, and instead of getting better with antibiotics and time it did not go away--a year later, after getting home to Canada and being out of that high-allergen environment, I was still not well. I had night sweats for months afterwards and it took me about two years to feel my health come back. Since then, I've become intolerant to wheat and dairy. I'm wondering--do mold and mildew have a long-term effect, even after we leave the environment? And do they (I shudder to think about it) stay in our systems after, and is there anything we can do?
In reply to Dawn Marie above, the only possible reasons I can think of for such extreme reactions are mold and mildew, and possibly a gluten allergy. I've been reading up on gluten intolerance/allergies and they can account for a lot of mysterious--and serious--symptoms.
All the best,
Jade
