I am preparing to have bilateral Oxford PKR's ... Why did yours fail? ... I am not sold on the Oxford prosthetic and am considering canceling.
My son had an Oxford partial knee replacement in Aug 2013 and has been in pain every since, workers comp in Indiana is refusing to do a full replacement and he is in pain every day. Looking at getting a suit going.
I have heard of many people never gaining full mobility from that surgery, which is really too bad. The knee is one area of our bodies that gets very little blood flow. This is why knee injuries tend to take a long time to heal. Our bodies natural ability to heal brings any injured area blood flow, however, the rate at which it does so is very slow. There is a knee wrap called BFST (blood flow stimulation therapy), which speeds up this process. There is an Energy Web inside the knee wrap that emits electro-magnetic energy which sends a signal to the rest of our body, telling it that this specific area needs more blood flow. The blood flow this electro-magnetic promotes is full of the oxygen and nutrients you need in order to be able to heal, and at an accelerate rate. The increased blood flow also lubricates the area helping prevent any further damage during movements.

I had both oxford partial knee replacements done on the same day. My left knee is excellent. The right knee was a problem after surgery. Got better after awhile but never 100%. This lSt year has been difficult with just the right knee. I think I am going to need surgery again. I think everyone is different. My left knee is awesome. My surgery was done in 2009 in Florida.
I have had an Oxford partial knee replacement 2 1/2 years ago. In two weeks, I will have a total knee replacement conversion, with a different surgeon. The second surgeon said that partial knee replacements are "in vogue," not done much any more. He also said that the results of the x-ray indicate the partial knee replacement equipment is loose. If left as is, the looseness will damage the knee further and damage the leg as well. I'd like to know how many people have had problems with the Oxford partial knee replacement. The statute of limitations for the (first) surgeon has run out (only two years).
I was told by my empoyers doctor that I needed an Oxford knee replacement, so I found a doctor in my area that did them. I had it done about 5 years ago and it was great for 2 months with rapid recovery and very little pain. Then one day I was walking along and suddenly I had incredicble pain in my knee and could barely walk on it. The doctor did x-rays and scoped it several times, but it was never right after that. He said all looked find in the X-rays, but when he went in the first time to clean it up and see the problem, he found cement. I am guessing that the implant moved just enough to misalign my knee. Within 5 years, it became impossible to walk on it and I had to have a total knee replacement. I had great pain with that and it took me months to recover and I was still not able to bend my knee enough to really be functional. The doctor told me it would get better in a year or so. I went back 18 months later and said I still could not bend it. The doctor then did a clean out of scar tissue and a manipulation. The flexion is better, but I still have pain and stiffness in the knee. Now my other knee needs surgery and I am considering an Oxford because of how good the last one was until the problem occurred. I think it was one of those rare things that happen and I am willing to try it again, especially since there is now a warranty on the Oxford. With the Oxford, you keep the ACL and I want one knee that will bend since I have so much trouble with the other knee that has the total replacement.
had biomet oxford partial knee replacement march 2013,constant pain, never got better, had xrays with new doctors says it had came apart, getting it replaced next month,i suffered for 2 years, doc kept saying it takes time, but never got beeter, live on pain kilers for 2 years
I am looking forward to this, even after reading some of the previous posts where some individuals have had some problems. I feel very good about the surgeon that is doing my surgery, as he has told me that if you do not do enough of these, you do not have as much success. He does quiet a few partial knee replacements and is known to have very good luck with them. I will keep the forum updated as to how I am progressing.
