I just had the procedure yesturday and my Doc said I would have some cramping for about 8 hours and would get easier as time went on...OM I feel as if I went through 8 hours of hard hard labor...Severe intolorable cramping, to the point I feel you should be in the hospital overnight for pain control. It is finally starting to ease up, but still hurting..It is cramping in my stomach, my back and into my thighs. And had great difficulty for about the first 6 hours to urinate and had the greatest urge to have a bowel movement, but was unable to even pass gas..Why did I and do feel this way and has anyone else had this kind of recovery.... :-(
While there is a medical procedure called 'ablation' according to google and the British Heart Foundation (I'm uk), are you sure you didn't mean abortion? You may wish to re-post under that title.
Also, if it is abortion, 'the' procedure is ambiguous: there is a big difference between the chemical (pill) abortion and a surgical abortion, and again, there are different levels of intervention there, from an early-term intervention through the cervix, to late surgical.
If your abortion whas chemical (pill, medication) based, then yes, it is reputed to be like an extremely heavy period: bear in mind, unlike a 'natural' miscarriage, which is often mistaken for a period, you asked and your doctor complied, and essentially forced the body to react this way, so the reaction may be accentuated.
If it was a surgical intervention, then no, it doesn't sound like experience I have come across, either with a partner or my own, or here on site; but that doesn't mean any more than it's something to investigate further. I'm an experienced adult, not a medical professional.
If they have reassured you that's normal, I would assume they are well informed.
If in doubt, check it out: go back, or to another doctor or clinic, and ask.

You are an id**t. Sir. Do a little more research before posting rubbish.
