I have two same type of horrible pains, one that radiates under my left shoulder blade and the other that radiates in my left elbow.
I also have tingling which leads to numbness in the two smaller fingers in my left hand.
I am waiting for a procedure to decompress the nerve in my left elbow. (Ulnar Nerve)
I also have been advised that two of my discs in my neck are not as they should be, however they assure me that they are not touching any of the nerves.
Is it possible that the same nerve (Ulnar Nerve) is getting compressed behind my shoulder blade and that is why I am getting the same horrible pain there as well?
So it looks like the (Ulnar Nerve) is getting compressed in the two different places, at my left shoulder blade and at my left elbow because both the same pains do not necessarily appear at the same time.
Hello.
It's possible for the same nerve, in this case the ulnar nerve, to be affected at different points along its pathway, leading to symptoms in multiple areas. Compression or irritation of the ulnar nerve can occur at various locations, including the shoulder blade and the elbow.
The symptoms you described, such as radiating pain under the left shoulder blade, pain in the left elbow, and tingling/numbness in the two smaller fingers of the left hand, can be associated with ulnar nerve compression or irritation. However, it's important to note that a comprehensive evaluation by a healthcare professional is necessary to determine the exact cause of your symptoms.
In your case, it's possible that the ulnar nerve is being affected in both the shoulder blade region and the elbow. It could be due to different underlying causes, such as muscle impingement, nerve entrapment, or even issues related to the discs in your neck. The fact that your healthcare provider has identified disc abnormalities in your neck suggests that there may be additional factors contributing to your symptoms.
