I had cervical laminectomys on four levels in February '09. After surgery I had excruciating pain in my hands and fingers. I could not use my fingers for several days, and stayed in the hospital for 6 days. I continue to have pain in my hands and fingers after 4 1/2 months. Why did this happen?
Hi dfelix, it sounds to me like if you have pain in your hands and fingers then it is possible that somehow during surgery that you suffered some nerve damage. I am not exactly certain why because I don't think there's even any serious nerves near your cervix that would cause hand pain like that. It's possible that your hand problem isn't even related to the surgery. I think a consult with the surgeon is a good idea, and then talk to your doctor as well! Keep us posted, okay?
By cervicle, I think they are refering to their neck not their cervix.
Oops. I misread that entire thing. Then yes, it is possible that the cervical surgery could have caused an issue in that the procedure may have caused nerve damage. Have you spoken to a doctor about this or anything? I think that it would be a good idea to let them know that your pain has not gone away and that it may mean that the surgey did not go as well as planned. Could you come back to give us an update on how you're doing? Thanks!
