id love a doctor to explain why its always right sided pain, when there are 2 tubes... i know there is an appendix on that side and the bowel is shaped differently, i know gut pain can refer anywhere and location is not an indicator but it still seems strange...

Hello, I was 10 weeks pregnant when I found it was an Ectopic Pregnancy. I was having unusual abdominal pain and light spotting, feeling extremely tired and co-workers noticed I was looking sick. I first blew it off as just early pregnancy symptoms and continued my daily activities. Into the 7th-8th week the pain and bleeding had gotten worse so I went to the ER late that night, the Dr on call didnt do anything to help me, he simply said there was nothing he could do. His words were so cold "there is nothing we can do about a miscarriage, if the pain and bleeding gets any worse see your OB/GYN". I was waiting on my insurance from work to go into affect so my Dr Appt was in a few weeks. On the night of the 10th week I was feeling very sick, the pain was severe and bleeding  had gotten worse. I went to ER (different hospital) and they immediately done a vaginal ultra sound and confirmed it was a tubal pregnancy. The OB/GYN on call said it "she had never seen an ectopic pregnancy this far along" and within mins had a surgical team ready and took me back for emergency surgery. During prep for surgery it ruptured and cause internal bleeding. I lost one tube  and almost my life. This pregnancy has affected me mentally and physically. If you are having problems  please seek medical attention immediately.....dont wait around like i did, IT ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE! Prayers:)

My wife was experiencing a pain of similar kind. And her pregnancy was confirmed just a week ago. Doctor recomended her to undergo scanning and found everything normal. And we were told that those who suffer from gas related issues will face similar problems qt frequently during the early stages of pregnancy. So dear sisters nothing to worry.. Hope this will lessen the tension of a few atleast.. May God bless you all..

The EXACT same thing happened to me!! Doctors and nurses are used to hearing pregnant women complain about aches and pains so they tend to brush it off and tell you it is normal but if you need to go to ER I did and it saved my life by hours!! I was calling dr's office every day since I got the positive hpt telling them something was wrong I was spotting brown but only when I wiped and my levels were going up but not as much still this was not enough for the office to get me in before the 10 prenatal appointment turns out I was pregnant with ectopic and it was twins!!! My levels werent a big concern to them because they were going up because there were 2 babies one in each tube, now my case is RARE I am only the 22 documented case of this type of ectopic but either way I knew my body and knew something was wrong! I will say that I had no pain which they found strange just 1 day around week 6 or 7 I had pain that lasted maybe 2 hours I thought was a trapped gas bubble but then it went away and that was all the pain I had to don't focus on just 1 symptom you may not get pain or you may get alot point is if you feel something is wrong don't be shy or nervous about kicking up a fuss it is your life on the line so your worth it!!!
Oh and yes I know this is an old post but people do still read old posts and if my story helps one person then I will post it still no matter how old the thread is!!

hi i came across your post and am in the same vote I dont know if I am pregnant, but am experiencing slight cramping in the right side of my abdomen and i am really concerned. In the past I have had a cyst the size of an AFL football removed from my ovary. i am really concerned and i feel like i am going to vomit that is how bad the pain is.

Any Ideas to what this could be would be very helpful

thanks

I know this is an old post but I wanted to share my story. Recently I went to my doc with severe abdominal pain, rectum pressure and bleeding (which I thought was just my period) he told me to do a home pregnancy test just in case which to my surprise it was positive!! That night I went to a&e we with more period like pains which had got much worse. After more examinations they found an ectopic pregnancy in my left tube which unfortunately they had to remove the pregnancy and tube in emergency surgery. Before all of this I didn't even realise that it could due to a pregnancy let alone an ectopic one because I misdiagnosed the bleeding as my normal period, it wasn't until the severe pains I knew something was wrong!!

no it's not too early. i just was told i had a ectopic pregnancy and was only 4 or 5 weeks they did a ultrasound above the stomach and vaginally. they seen something wasnt write so i had to have surgery and lost my right tube. i could see where the baby was in my right tube because they took pictures before they took it out. I dont think it's ever too early

Always trust your instincts! I had an ectopic pregnancy last year. I started with a very bloated stomach and some cramps which I thought maybe normal as I'd been told in first few weeks of pregnancy you have cramps, then I started losing only a small amount of blood at first just a pink colour when I wiped. I thought it was normal maybe implantation bleeding. Then the pain started getting worse and more towards the left side of my stomach. The bleeding got worse but unlike period it was watery. And unlike a miscarriage which I'd previously had it felt different. I went to see my doctor and explained my symptoms and he straight away sent me to the early pregnancy unit. There they tested my blood for hcg and did an internal scan. The found no sac or anything in my uterus but found a mass in left tube. To be sure I was sent home and called back every two days for blood tests to check hcg to see if it was doubling as it should with a normal pregnancy. It did at first then it slowed down and following another scan at 8 weeks where they found again the mass in my left tube which had grown and nothing in my uterus I was given methotrexate to save my tube and to stop the baby growing. Luckily that worked and I didn't need an operation. I'm still trying for a baby after my miscarriage and ectopic. Hoping sometime soon I get some better luck! Just please listen to your body, if it doesn't feel right or even if your unsure, go to the early pregnancy unit and have a scan and blood tests, it might just save your tube to try again or your life.
