I get a sharp pain in my sternum whenever I sneeze or cough. The area where the sharp pain occured is painful to touch for a little while after but then the pain goes away until i sneeze or cough again. I have had this pain for almost 6 months. I don't remember injuring the area. If I am lying down or sitting, the pain is even more painful when i sneeze or cough.
Yes I get the similar pain too. I went to the gym today to work on my shoulders and triceps, after done with the shoulders, i noticed getting pain while doing the triceps.
However, now, just like you, when I sneeze, the sternum hurts a lot. It slowly fades away but it hurts quite badly when i sneeze again.

Hello there,
Well, something similar has happened to my brother last year so I know thing or two about this. Unfortunately sneeze can pull the intercostal muscle and I think that this is your problem. And this is a small muscle between the ribs, just in case that you don’t know. As you have felted by yourselves this muscle can be very painful. Also it is extremely painful when the power of a sneeze causes movement and in which joint gets into position where the rib meets the spine and they became misaligned.
Sneezing usually triggers muscle spasms and aggravate pinched nerves and the result is extreme pain that you are feeling. Unfortunately you will need to see your doctor about this so I suggest that you do this as soon as possible.
Hi
what did your brother have to do and how long did it take him to recover?
