I have been feeling pain in my right side of abdomen for some time. I should probably go to doctor, but I am afraid that it's something serious. Can someone tell me what this could be? Thanks

I understand that you are scared. It is not easy for anyone, when they start to suspect that something is wrong with their health. However, you need to understand that every condition has better chances of curative treatment when it's detected early in the stage. So, it would be wise for you to go to your doctor. I can't diagnose you like this because I don't have enough information and because that could only do your doctor, by examining you. What you are experiencing is a common symptom of gallbladder stones. The diagnosis of gallstones is usually made by ultrasonography or by oral cholecystography. Gallbladder stones without any abdominal pain are not an indication for cholecystotectomy. This procedure is performed using laparoscopic techniques or through abdominal incision. The laparoscopic procedure has more advantages like shorter hospital stay, minimal scarring and faster return to normal activities. As I said, you need to go to your doctor to be sure what is your case.
