For the last six or seven months I too have been in pain. I had a C/T scan, but was told nothing showed up. I was then told that it was due to a muscle spasm. I have been told a lot of WHAT THE PAIN IS NOT, but nothing for sure of what it is. I am currently going to physcial ther. on the TENS.

I, like so many of you, had undiagnosed flank/abdominal pain on my right side. At first we thought it was a kidney stone. However, my stones have always been on the left side and on the scans it showed both kidneys free of stones. So, that wasn't it. Then we thought it might be another ovarian cyst (but mine are always on the left side) - this time no cyst was present on either side. Since I don't have a gallbladder that was not the problem. Then they thought it might be a kidney infection but I did not have symptoms of a kidney infection and my tests came out negative for the infection. It turns out I am adrenal insufficient. I have an auto-immune disorder that attacks the endocrine glands. I am now on hydracortisone for the rest of my life. If I forget to take my hydracortisone my right flank starts to ache and the longer I go without the steroids the more it hurts. If it goes on longer the ache turns into a burn.

I too have been experiencing flank pain. It comes and goes and is usually relieved by drinking cascades of water. Holding my urine can become more uncomfortable than usual when I am having the flank pain. It is always on my right side. I have discomfort under right ribcage frequently and have yet to be able to determine if the two are related or even coincide. I have noticed that the discomfort for the past two months has been right around the 10th day of my cycle.
I have had ultrasound - they say nothing bad; CAT scan w/out contrast and they said no kidney stone. I have had blood work done and the only thing that came back off was my Glom Filtration rate ( whatever that is) I am 57 and should be over 60 and my creatine level which should be 1.0 was 1.11. I am really scared. Right now I am in a holding pattern for 6 weeks till I can retake that blood test. In the meantime I am going insane. What could this be and who should I see.
Help!

I just want to alert you & not scare you! I am scared enough myself. Anyway I have the same symptoms & it is kidney related; I have a large irregular cyst on my right kidney which is now being evaluated for cancer.

In the beginning I had a doctor that did not take me seriously & she sent me to emerg for appendicitis without barely listening to me or examining me. They did bood & urine tests & an ab ultrasound & said I probably had IBS & to contact my GP to set up a colonopscopy, which I did even though my symptoms did not mimic IBS. I also had more bloodwork including kidney fuction which came back fine, ekg fine. My previous doc then said it must be my gallbladder which i didn;t think was right because I could eat whatever I wanted without additional symptoms. In short I have had 2 ultrasounds that showed clear before having a ct scan which showed a large mass in thr right kidney.

Anyway I now have a new GP & she will answer my questions as my other doctor would not. It sucks but at least I am in the hospital system & will find out what I need to know.

Please do not waste time; all I can tell you is that flank & one sided lower back pain is most certainly kidney related, even if you have had bood tests for kidney function & they come back clear it does not mean that every thing is ok.

I am now waiting for my next ct with & without contrast to determine if my tumor is benign or malignant on May 19th. I will know by the end of the month. It has been a long, painful & scary road.

I hope this will help you of someone else

Lissa

What would cause a feeling of pressure on the right side and around to the back? No pain, just a feeling of pressure especially if lying down on the right side.

I have been to obgyn, and ultrasound shows same old fibroid tumors. No urinary tract infection. It hurts to get up and down from bed or chairs. My age is 62, past menopause, and sex is painful. What do I do?

I have had a pain in my right-hand side, between my c section scar and my appendix. I have had kidney trouble in the past, but it is fine and I'm healthy now. What can it be?
