I was diagnosed periodontitus 2 weeks ago. I’ve had very bad symptoms, like swollen and painful gums and felt unpleasant taste in my mouth. I got some medications for pain reducing. I feel that my teeth are a bit separated from gums. Am I going to lose all my teeth? I’m 65 years old and have never had toothache before. What causes periodontitus?

I’ve heard that some medications that are used chronically may increase the risk from periodontitis. Also, smokers are at greater risk of this disease. I think that it can be treated with antibiotics, as common inflammation, but sometimes surgery can’t be avoided. It’s the most important cause of tooth loss. You should know that complications may be serious, so follow your dentist’s instructions.
