My daughter was diagnosed peritonsillar abscess:tonsillitis. Doctor prescribed her antibiotics, but she still has severe cough and pain in neck. Her throat is sore and she has vertigo when stands up. She speaks like a ‘hot potato voice’ and is very drowsy. Please suggest me how to help her.

She’ll be better after she take whole prescribed dose of antibiotics. Just give her a lot of tea to drink, because of dehydratation that may happen in fever. Antipyretics are helpful; paracetamol is drug of choice for kids. She should sleep a lot and have rest, because inflammation causes fatigue. You should give her chicken soup and fruit and I’m sure she’ll be better after few days.
