I have had the same problem for years and years and could never work out with all the help in the world what caused them.   Then I moved from Australia to England, and while in England I never got them.  I have now moved back to Sydney Australia and they have come back.  I then went to Ballarat in Victoria for a few months and did not have them.  Now I'm back in Sydney I have them again.

Sydney = Hot/Humid = Pimples on head
England = Cold = No Pimples on head
Ballarat = Cold = No Pimples on head

I now realise that when I start to get hot, they come out really bad, particularly when very humid and I sweat.

The ONLY medication that works (apart from anti-biotics) is ELOCON LOTION 0.1% or DISPROSONE LOTION 0.1% (Mometasone).  It gives lasting relief within a couple of hours.  And if used sparingly 2 days a week as a preventative I never get the pimples on my head.

I think I just have a allergy to the heat, and there is not much I can do about it medically to cure it except for move to a colder climate.

This may not be the case for other readers, but please ask your Doctor for the lotions I mentioned earlier.  If I didn't have that lotion I'd be in pain and discomfort and never be able to get a hair cut and feel conscious of people seeing the pimples on my head.

At least I am not the only one, its not the the kind of thing one would bring up in general conversation, I think the problem for me is I am over weight!  When I eat chocolate or drink coffee more than 4 times a week I breakout. Chocolate = boils.   I lost weight last year and they stopped.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

i've had these same issues and the answer is to switch to a low carb diet. eliminate all sugars, even fruit. no grains, no starchy foods like potatoes. just veggies and small amounts of animal protein.

it will take several days to notice a difference, and you must persist for months to get full results. any cheating and you'll set yourself back to square one. f you're looking for specific diets to try, look up "paleo" and "GAPS". both are tasty, so there's no reason to slide back into a carb-filled standard diet.

the cause is SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) where commensal bacteria from the small intestine translocating to the scalp and other areas, like the sinuses and middle ear. antibiotic use, which damages the healthy flora in the gut and creates intestinal permeability is the mechanism by which the bacteria mismigrates.

Hi all, I'm unfortunately experiencing the same problem as many of you are too.. I've been getting these boils for nearly 3 years now, and I agree that it is the most painful of infections ever! Doctors don't have a clue as to a cure and I've been taking antibiotics since the beginning of the infection, and the moment I stop taking them, it all comes back! Sometimes I get 10 - 15 at a time, all of which result in a boil full of puss which is VERY painful... I havnt come across a permanent cure yet, and even though I'm taking antibiotics, I'm still getting small heads every now nd again which only disappear if I increase the amount of antibiotics I take in a day... also I have experienced major hair loss throughout the proces, and have a horrible, patchy and lumpy scalp.. if anyone has any remedy which has permanently worked for them or has any further information on the matter please email me on _[removed]_... thank you, and hope you all find a permanent solution very soon :)

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about everyones problems, I had it too. I say, "Had" and not "Have" because I got rid of it. I was like everyone, I went to the doctor, and was prescribed antibiotics, and it went away, but then it would come back. So I looked around for other ways to fight it, and I found out about Turmuric! Turmuric is the yellow spice that goes on Indian food, and believe me, u take one teaspoon and mix it in a cup of warm water, and do that a couple times a day (it tastes nasty but who cares) it will GO AWAY, then take one of those every few days to keep it in ur system, and u can say goodbye to Boils. Loving Life again.. U can get Turmeric at any Indian Spice store, Jacob

i have this problem too, i find that using dettol antiseptic(the liquid one)diluted 1:1 in water to rinse my hair works well in killing staph bacteria, if you use it long enough with the proper dilution 1:1, it will help rid the problem. But you have to make sure you don't use full strenght of dettol because it can burn your skin.
