I had it on 12-16 and it is now 1-30 and I am still having difficulties walking and the toe isn't really moving or anything. My stitches came out two weeks after the surgery, but the pin stayed in for 4 weeks. The pin removal was horrible! The doctor told me that I wouldn't really feel it, just some pressure. LIES...ALL LIES. It hurt like hell.

I had my surgery 4 months ago and one of the pins came out on its own (no pain) and the others are still there. The post-op pain is much more painful than the pre-op pain. If I would have known the pain after surgery, I am not sure I would have had it done. I still have severe pain whenever I put on any kind of shoe! Can anyone give me hope the pain eventually goes away, and when?

4 weeks after toe surgery the pin was removed, only 1/2 of pin came out and toe got infected. It is pretty much healed. The Dr. said he wanted to just leave the remaining 3" pin where it is, still stuck thru the bone. How common is this? What if pin dislodges?

I had the surgery six weeks ago. I'm leaving in a few minutes to have the pins removed. This had been the most painful and horrible experience of my life. I'm 50 years old. I expect the removal of the pins to be excruciating today. I can't believe I had this done to myself. I've been in severe pain as I am this minute. I don't recommend it for anyone unless you are able to chose your surgeon. I truly believe i have the most sadistic doctor. I have Kaiser insurance so I don't have many options. i won't be having surgery on my right foot. I would rather walk with a cane for the rest of my life.

This surgery is very painful, I had it 3 weeks ago and I'm still in a lot of pain. You need to make sure that during the first two weeks you really do very little on your feet. The pins are not coming out in my case. Do one foot at the time, otherwise you are going to be in terrible shape.

I just had this surgery done 3 weeks ago, 4 toes on left foot plus a plantar plate repair under foot, and broken pinky toe. All in all I have not had much pain since after 1st week. Awaiting stitch removal as last week there was still some separation so they were not removed. Hopeful for stitch and pin removal tomorrow, but will be ok if Dr wants to wait another week or 2. Still having lots of swelling when I'm up and about but goes down width rest and elevation.

I've been looking for some information on the after math of bunionette surgery. I read yours and could relate. It's going on 12 wks post surgery and my little toe doesn't bend at the mid knuckle. There is severe pain along the outside of my foot up to my ankle. My doctor never explained any of these complications. this pain is worse than the surgery.
I'm not going to do the other foot until I'm unable to walk.

I had surgery to fix a Bunion and 3 hammer toes. The pain meds work great, they just do not give you that many. I guess for me the first few days are the worst. Seems to have healed fast. Mine has been about a month. Still a tiny bit swollen but really not that bad!! I just can not leave it alone. My foot sweats in that stupid boot. I have to air out my foot because I started to get a sore between my toe, cause they are all crammed in there. Anyway, today one of the pins came out. I knew it was loose. Since the swelling is going down the pins are getting loose. I was going next week to get them removed! I wished I could pull the other two out. I think if I do it, it would hurt less than if they do it. I am gonna ice my foot up real good before I go in there. The main thing is the whole thing is totally inconvenient!! I guess I am glad I did it!! I hope I did not hurt anything when that pin came out!! Maybe some people's feet don't sweat!! But mine, I have kept it clean and free from all that dead skin!! They would probably fuss at me!! Take care all you hammertoe babies!!

For sure, my pin just came out today!! I hope it did not hurt anything. I kinda feel sick on my stomach!! Anyway, the others are getting loose too!! I tell you what saspursfan336046 if I can not eventually wear all my shoes, I am gonna be mad, cause he the doc assured me that in about 6 months the swelling would really start to subside but to expect swelling for that length of time. My foot is hardly swelled now. It has been 27 days. I still have to wear that heavy boot even when the pins come out, until it has been 6 full weeks!! Then I have to find me some like nurse shoes!! Yuck!! I hope the whole thing resolves eventually. Girl, I am so sorry your foot still hurts!! There can be nerve damage. That lasts forever!!
