I am one week out after having lapoplasty bunion correction and four hammer toes, and hydro-pro insertion. Your doctor should provide pain meds. Keep your foot elevated and iced ( most effective if placed back of the knee). I have pins in toes, tiny plates and screws in the arch of my foot to correct bunions - the cause of the hammer toes. I am healing well. Doc assured me pin removal would be painless. I have been getting around using a knee scooter - much easier and safer than crutches!

I had my 2 pins removed TODAY from my big toe after 7 weeks post op (6 weeks + 1 due to bad weather). 2 weeks ago I had my stitches removed and were painful so I spent 2 weeks freaking out about my pins removal. I went in today all prepared with a heavy blanket, pain meds, vitamin D, lavender oil, chamomile tea, fidget spinner, and I took a shot of whiskey before I walked in!! lol anything to help with my anxiety. Anyway, doc asked if I wanted a countdown I said YES, 10 seconds later they were all out! The pain was not severe it was weird, deep, shooting but mild, went away quickly. I laid down for a bit (because I have very low pain tolerance) all I remember was me asking the doc "that's it??". Anyway I'm over the cloud happy that I'm done! It bled a little. Doc said I can take a shower tonight! I'll wait a few days so I can build more confidence to start bending my toe and put more pressure on it when walking. Hope my experience helps people out there who are freaking out like I did about the pin removal process.

had hammer toe surgery with four pins, bunion removal, big toe and second toe fused together and a lot of gout removed this past Tuesday. Tuesday thur Saturday was very painful. Walking with cane. Early this am I could begin to tell a difference. So about a week of pain with extensive surgery. However the dried blood bandage hurt alot between toes and the stitches. I cannot removed bottom soak bandage but can loosen ace bandage. That where some of the pain is coming from the soak bandage. Another week and two days before I see dr. I hope this help. Yes I have to have the other foot done after this one heals.
