I've had it for 13 months now. I spend 200.00 a month in cortisone. It won't go away. If I stop applying the cortisone, it comes back very bad. My whole life has been turned upside down. I feel helpless.

Ledford, do you still have Pityriasis Rosea? I have had it about 9 weeks. I've spent a fortune trying to get rid of the severe itch. I have found a few things that lessened it, and it is tolerable now, but still itches some and looks terrible..

1. Head & Shoulder Eucalyptus: use as body wash, leave it on for a couple of minutes before rinsing it. It stings a little at some points but it really works. It dries out the rash and cools the skin to help bring down inflammation.
2. Coconut Oil/Body Butter: to keep the body hydrated, overly dry skin will cause itching. I personally prefer body butter because it is richer than regular lotion and soaks into the skin faster than coconut oil.
3. Supplements (vitamin C or elderberry extract): to boost the immune system.
4. UV light: I tried to expose to the sun 15 minutes a day. Remember it is the UV light from the sun that helps, not the heat. The heat will exaggerate the rash, so try not to wear too many clothes when getting the sun and avoid intensive physical activities. I did not use tanning bed because of personal reasons but I think it would work because it gives the right amount of UV light every time.
My PR started to flatten and dried out. It turned from bright red to brownish color. I also used Bio-Oil and Sudocrem at some points but they did not do anything for me. The scars fade on their own pretty fast so Bio-Oil is not necessary. Unfortunately, my body was not strong enough to fight the rash completely, so when one episode was over, another one began. I had multiple episodes, and it took a total of 3 months for my body to fight it off. During the last month, I was giving up and stopped thinking about the rash. I guess because I was no longer stressed out, my rash somehow healed really quickly at this point. I was worried because the scars were everywhere on my body, but they just peeled off or faded away as soon as the rash cleared. Now 90% of my scars is already gone, the 10% left is the ones on my legs which will eventually go way as well.

I got this skin issue two weeks ago. My doctor knew immediately what it was and prescribed me Tiamcinlome creme which I used after bathing and I used Ketoconazole shampoo and I also spread it on my affected areas whole in shower then rinsed off. Within two weeks 80% gone. I also used head and shoulders shampoo which helped with rash. It will go away just takes a lithe time.

Hello- I diagnosed myself with PR after getting the mother rash on my abdominal area about 4 weeks ago. I had flu like symptoms the first 2 weeks. After 3 weeks I began to get rashes on my arms, chest, neck, hair line and severe swelling and itching of the eyes. Mostly the right eye. I use coconut oil and have been tanning twice. The tanning seems to reduce the individual rash size by the next morning, however I continue to get new ones. I decided to just keep on plugging and try to destress as much as possible knowing stress makes my body heat up uncontrollably and the itching is sure to follow. I'm a strong advocate on positive thoughts and their connection to the body so I try to avoid fearful thinking. However, after reading last night's #3 trending topic on the symptomology of kissing bugs and chagras disease, I have noticed too many similarities between it and PR. The symptoms go away on their own after onset of fever, rash, swelling of the eyes and face, etc. The only contrast and symptom ology I noticed was that there is no mother rash when it is from the kissing bug. Because it dissipates on its own, it often goes unchecked or is diagnosed as another skin disease. 5 to 10 years later, Chagras causes congestive heart failure. Please understand that I am in no way suggesting we should all fear we have the bacteria that leads to Chagras. I am hoping one of you highly intelligent and informed individuals will research this too. Or if anyone has any information to please ease my mind. To get tested is apparently simple, but since it is usually dx as a skin issue it's typically never done. I really want to avoid fearing this and was hoping to get feedback from you folks. Thank you in advance for your help.
