I had this just over a year ago for the whole winter, it seemed to fade and reduce with summer. It came back much less this winter just gone but is persisting into summer. I find that eating sugary foods makes it worse and having a probiotic pill each day calms it a little. I would love to see a cure for this. My understanding was that you get it and it lasts up to 3 mths then you shouldn't get it again, however mine is still lurking about over a year later.

When I found out I had PR over a week ago, I was absolutely gutted. Finding out there's no specific cure made me do loads of research. I found a company in the US who did a cream but it will take ages to come so I decided to make a home remedy which has done wonders. Mix Coconut oil, aloe Vera gel, olive oil and a few drop of lavender oil and tea tree oil! My rash is slowly but surely going back away! I also went on a sun bed today so hopefully that clears it up

PR really is truly the disease from hell. It's not enough that it's hideous and long lasting but it's terribly uncomfortable. I have read that about 40-50% of those affected experience moderate to severe itch. And by god I was one of that percentile. I slept zero hours a night for the worst week or two And wearing a shirt made it worse and felt like being in a straight jacket. I just got a full unadultered nights sleep last night and am finally feeling normal and on the mend. Itch is about 85% gone and lesions are all still there but have significantly faded. The healing flakiness/peeling stage also creates a good deal of itch. It also makes your skin feel super scaly and bumpy and just "not right" feeling at it's worst stages.
Couple points: my dermatologist gave me strong hydrocortisone cream. It is a pain in the butt and it doesn't really work. He also gave my 1g twice a day valacyclavir (valtrex) - I don't know if this was a factor but I really started to improve on day 6 of the 10 day valtrex RX. He also gave me 25mg hydroxyzine which is an old school strong antihistamine for itch. Doctors usually prescribe antihistamines for PR. Did nothing for me. As good as placebo as far as I'm concerned. At least.
The only thing I can say is, don't scratch, take cold showers, ask doc for an antiviral like valtrex, and know that it will end in a couple more weeks.

Hi, I Have Pityriasis Rosea Disease, it's been 1year, and until now i hasn't go away, what should I do?

What treatments have you tried? I found a clean diet plus UV and relaxation to work but I think it’s different for everyone. Maybe it’s evolved into psoriasis or eczema?

Yes!! Same here! I was also misdiagnosed but for ringworm because when i went in, only the herald patch had come out... fast forward to two weeks later it had literally spread everywhere and i had no improvement with the antifungal cream which seem to make it worse. She saw how much it had spread and how stressed I was.
She said it no longer looked like it ringworm that it was either PR or eczema and also prescribed the Halobetasol propionate cream which is used to treat both. Im on like day 3 of the cream and already seeing improvements!

I had PR for five weeks total. I noticed the herald patch very early because it was on my shoulder. One week later I noticed the red spots on my side and chest, that’s when I started to look into it. I’ve heard all sorts of different things to treat the itch and discomfort of it and I tried a couple but no luck. On the third week I was already sick of it so I made a huge change by switching up my diet. I use to eat healthy and run marathons but I got so invlolved with work I had to cut that out but I’m back on the same routine I was when I was training. Basically I used a juicer in the morning any kind of fruit or vegetables will work the main thing you want to do is make sure you are boosting your immune system and getting as much energy through your body as possible. I would add ginger to everything I ate all day. Within two days my spots were disappearing and or becoming smooth and starting to. There’s much more than just juicing, for all meals I only drank lemon water. Lemon water helps detox your body. One other helpful tip is coconut oil. I’m a 23 year old male so I don’t usually want to be covered in some type of skin moisturizer but the coconut oil is incredible for your skin. By the fifth week I had two spots left and they are now completely gone. Good luck to all of you start eating better as soon as you can before it gets too bad.

Hello, been reading lots of the above posts... my daughter has PR for over a year now. It’s not itchy ( thank goodness ) and hasn’t spread much since that time ( but have noticed some new random spots ). Has anyone had this experience before of such a lengthy period of having PR. We are just riding it out as our holistic dr advised and as I do not want to put steroids on her

I’ve definitely seen people report on here PR for that duration but perhaps get a second opinion from a dermatologist. Since I had PR (which resolved in 6 weeks using natural UV, clean diet, and a bunch of other lifestyle things so I don’t know which one really did the trick) I’ve had psoriasis and eczema which are more chronic - perhaps your daughter’s condition has evolved into something else?

Have you tried Preze? My PR lasted 14 months and showed no signs of leaving. The Prreze cream made it go away in 5 days. I was so happy to see skin again. Was your daughter diagnosed with a biopsy? Yes, I know mine lasted over a year, but it is very unusual in an already unusual disease to have it last so long.

I’ve had twice now and now I’m getting for a third time. I believe mine is triggered by stress and a poor diet. What works very well is to get that body part sun burned and it goes away. At least it has for me every time also I’ve heard taking the amino acid lysine helps tremendously.
