I have been living (sort of) with asthma for about 30 years now. I now believe wholeheartedly that not only is my asthma triggered by allergens, weather, cigarette smoke, and exercise, but also most definitely by my menstrual cycle. While I can avoid most allergens and find relief staying indoors with the a/c on, I cannnot avoid my menstrual cycle. It's truly uncontrollable during this time. I must say, this doesn't occur every month. Maybe 3-4 months out of the year.
I use singulair, advair 50/500 and combivent along with my albuterol, but still at this time (about a week before my period), I get no relief from all of theses meds and have to go to my doc to get my beloved prednisone. I really do my best to avoid the hospital. Time, kids, work, and money. I NEED to avoid the hospital.
Has or is anyone doing a study or do you have any suggestions as to what I could do to avoid this situation again? Vitamins, herbs, foods or drugs? I'll do anything. I'm desperate, and tired of it.
