I had my gallbladder removed last Thursday, sent home Friday.
I seemed to be healing ok except the drain hole site continued to leak masses of fluid. Also that area is extremely painful; so much so in fact that I went to A&E last night.
They dealt with the pain, did blood tests for infection (none). They said it was normal and the pain was trapped fluid and try to massage the area to keep it flowing.
The surgery was done at a hospital an hours drive away - this was my local hospital and they were very anxious to not 'get involved' with a different hospital's surgeon's work'.
So I figured I just have to somehow get through this as best I can; but what I want to know is how long will this go on. Far from the leakage lessening I'm changing the dressings more and more frequently - even large ones are soaked through in an hour.
I have low platelets (was given platelets during surgery) - but this is not blood, it's a clearish, pinkish fluid.
I can't face eating, it's hard to keep my fluids up now so I'm dry all the time too. Has anyone anything to reassure me? Or advice?
