I'm on week 5.  First of all I took seriously my MDs comment that they would come right back unless I solved what was causing it.  So I went beyond medical and functional medicine and found solutions to IBS and colitis that a whole different topic to here.  That was 2 years ago.  So before I even revisiting my surgeon I had accomplished a very clean diet and smooth poops  (e.g. chicken/fish/2 veggies per meal) and lots of water and herb tea.  Then I armed myself with sitz bath that sits on toilet rim, Tumeric Pain(2 3/day) by Gaia, Surgical strength Arnica (5 pellets 3/day), and Advil (2 3/day).  Boyfriend bought me a Squatty Potty, has a Toto toilet and washlet (bidet) which were beyond awesome to my recovery!  Worth every penny just for this but which I'll always use for the rest of my life!  I sat in a very hot tub after every BM and whenever it hurt.  I curled up on my side as necessary.

I found nothing scary about this pain.  I really did not appreciate reading horror pain of pain. Its stressful enough thank you.  And its our own fault if we have not been eating correctly nor prepared so don't imply we will hurt like you too.  Sure it hurts and some days are bummers.  Its surgery for goodness sakes.  I only took the Percaset 1/2s for 1 and 1/2 days.  I binge watched funny shows and ate liquid diet for 2 1/2 days prior and 2-3 days after.   Then soft foods like yogurt and soup, and then fish and lots of veggies until I could do chicken and now anything.  I'm avoiding all but small amounts of carbs.  Anything to keep smooth poops!  I drank 2 cups herbal tea in am and water all day and still am.  Ate / eat lots of kale and chard and papaya for fiber.

My biggest problem was solvable. To counteract the pain meds constipating effect I took  Metamucil 1 tablespoon, Colace stool softener, Mag Citrate liquid 2 oz at a time, prunes and Milk of Magnesia 1 Tbs, which caused way too much poops that hurt. That was sad. MD said I had taken too much magnesium to that I could use Immodium.  So I did and then one morning a Dulculax suppository laxative. Thank heavens it all balanced out.  Listening to body has become a skill!

I also took Dulculax sups one or two more mornings week 2 or 3.

I also took L Theanine to keep me calm and still take Arnica 30.  And 1/2 a  Trazadone  for sleep.

My personal downside to all this is that I got tinnitus from the Advil.  That's the bummer.

But my butt is happier than its been for years!  I'm very happy with the results so far.  They biopsied the removed tissue and it was precancerous so I'm glad I went when I did.  I also kept a log every day of what I ate, drank, meds,  and how I felt through each day.  That helped a lot.
