Hi, my mother has suffered herpetic infections several weeks ago and it was very painful and hard for her. She was taking vitamin B pills, some antiviral medications and analgesics but it didn't make her feel much better. After several days skin lesions were passed but she still feels pain which is very sharp. Her doctor told her it is post herpetic neuralgia and it will disappear soon. Is there something what may be done to ease the pain?
Hi, post herpetic neuralgia is very painful and it stays after herpetic lesions on the skin disappear. Sometimes it may last for several weeks. There is no specific treatment for this painful condition but to try with strong doses of vitamin B and analgesics which will make this pain easier to deal with. Not a good fact is that every time when her immune system falls down this infection may appear again.
