actually. ive read a lot about this as i suffered through this terrible infection... one of the effects of post scabies is that it can further intensify underlying skin problems. for instance, i'd had eczema prior to contracting scabies but had barely noticed since i only suffered very mild symptoms a few times. i'd never been able to pin point the eczema until after the scabies traumatized my skin and had intensified my eczema.

This made me feel so much better. i had the mites for a almost a year before i finally went to different doctors. used 6 tubes of permethrin cream. and a dose of ivermectin. the doctor said she didnt see them anymore when she did the scraping. im so glad i can finally read something about the after effects. i get so nervous when my skin looks irritated for about 30 min or longer. but im not itching like when i first got it. scabies ruined a relationship for me. i cant wait for the day when i can put it all behind me. good luck to anyone who has it. i really do have a lot of compassion for anyone who has to deal with this.

You've described exactly what I've been going through. I out grew childhood eczema and the scabies brought it back with a vengeance. Has anything you've done worked? I seem to know more about this than my dermatologist does.

Is their anything to apply to the nodules to make them disappear? Also were you embarrassed to have sex because of the bumps on the shaft?

Hello Scabies Patient!
You are exactly correct. Post scabies syndrome is often (99%) the issue and NOT re infestation. Permethrin no only kills the mite but also many important skin functions. By adding a second treatment of Permethrin you are going to be in a world of hurt about 4 weeks later. If your itching is local and you have red-localized spots at the itch site, you have PSS. Keep the skin from getting damaged by scratching and in about half a year you will feel euphoric...

I've also had problems with post scabies markbumps recurring. It has been 7 months, and it is getting better and I am hopeful that I'm in the home stretch, although I thought that a couple of times before and then the same bumps would somehow get agitated again and swell up and itch. During this ordeal I started suspecting that food intolerances were compounding the problem, so I followed an eczema diet and stopped drinking coffee. It seems like that helped. Also, most of my problem bites/bumps were on my butt, so sitting caused issues, because of rubbing and could start flare ups all over again. I would definitely think it would be worse to get bumps on mr happy because naturally it will be hard not to rub him for several months. Just hang in there though, it will slowly get better.
